Is it the so-called 5th generation chip or something older.
100 % impressed about it...
good luck.... just get one that is H20-600..
How many variations of the H20 are there? Is the H20 600 significantly better for OTA than the H20 100?
Thanks for the replies.
H20-100 made by RCA/Thompson
H20-200 made by Samsung
H20-300 made by Phillips
H20-400 made by Hughes
H20-500 made by Humax
H20-600 made by LG
The ones you hear the most about are the 100's and 600's. As far as the 600 being better than the 100, I can only state that my 100's OTA tuner is better than any other receiver I have previously owned. I don't have a 600 to compare it to.
It sounds like I must have gotten a lemon. Had H20-100 installed yesterday and it drops the ota hd signal about every 15 or 20 sec. My signal strength drops to 0 just long enough to freeze the picture. When I connect the antenna to tv, I get a consistent signal with no failures. Strength is between 87 and 90. Meter on H20 shows 77 to 85 with the aforementioned dropout. If anyone has any idea's about something I can do to fix this I would love to hear them.
I have had the -600 only, so I cannot compare it to any others either, but I can tell you that the -600 has the best tuner available in a stb. It has the best multipath results of any tuners. A similiar tuner is in the LG televisions.
I have a H20-100 and it is the best OTA tuner in any of the D* HD receivers I have owned. In the past I have had an E8, an HTL-HD, and an H10. I also currently have an HR10-250. The H20-100 is the first receiver I have owned that has allowed me to pick up West Palm Beach and Tampa OTA stations as well as our OTA Orlando locals.
Lou Do,
I don't recall there being any H20's other than -100 and -600, I think thew other numbers that denote the other manufactures are for previous and possibly future receivers.
You can add the - 700 to say Pace, the HR20 is a Pace product with the -700 numerclature.

Called d* about ota problem. They are sending me a new H20. I asked for a 600. Rep said he could not promise one, but would request it, for what that is worth. I would much rather have an LG than an RCA. Thanks.get a new box H20-600
I would like to convert to a HR20. I have several questions. Can I use the HR20 with the HD satellite components I have now? I have three LNBs for HD reception. Locals are not available here on satellite, so I use an OA antenna.
Has anyone been able to get a good deal from DirecTv converting to the converting from the HR10 to the HR20? I understand the price of the unit is $300. What department at DirecTv would be most likely to help and under what circumstances would they be most willing to cut a good deal?
I appreciate your help.
