How do I set up a FTA in Modesto,Cal?

I realize part of the fun is doing it yourself,but I could use some helpful advise,or better yet,maybe someone to lend me a hand.
I recently purchased a Coolsat 6000 premium,with a 30 inch motorized dish,with an Invacom quad polar legacy LNB.
I mounted it up on the pole,and I'm kind of at the OK,now what stage.
I'm not about to raise the white flag,but I guess you could say I'm
sending out a distress call to any FTA'ers who might live in,or around Stanislaus county.
I will be willing to pay you for your time.Like I say,I've run my RG6,made my connections,mounted my dish to the pole,but I could use a brief tutorial on how to get it up,and running.
Appreciate hearing from any of you FTA'ers in,or around Modesto,Cal.

Why don't you look over the nice tutorial on the Sadoun site and see if it helps.
I know a lot of the unfamiliar terminology may be overwhelming at the start, but it's really a straightforward process.

I think we have a dictionary of terms on the SatGuys site, if that'll help.

For a nice PDF printout of where all the satellites are, relative to your location, SatelliteAV has a very helpful web site.

To help you choose which birds are of most interest, there are three helpful sites.
FTAlist is the friendliest; Global-CM is more detailed; Lyngsat is the most difficult to use.

And don't worry.
A lot of people come here when they've pretty much given up, and I think 9 out of 10 become addicted to the hobby.
Or to say it another way, I'm sure you'll get enough help to get it going.
