Good evening, I am new to this formum so I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this problem.
I received the new HD update receiver from Direct TV. It is an HR22-100 with a slimline 3 dish. The equipment on the house works great.

My problem occurs when I take the receiver from the house and use it when I am away from home. I have a small "Round 18 inch dish" from a previous installation that I have used on a tri-pod with the older receiver and it worked very well. When they gave me the update, they took the old receiver. I have not been able to get the new receiver to work with this older Round 18 dish yet. I am using a Zinwell multiswitch MS6X8WBZ which is exactly like the one on the house. It seems like the new HD receiver does not recognize the Round 18 dish. How do I make the HR22-100 see the Round 18 dish instead of looking for the Slimline 3? Thanks for any help Tkissell

Welcome to the Site !

When you are ready to do the set up at the other place, you'll need to go into Menu, Set Up, System set up, Sat and Antenna ....
There should be a Repeat Sat Set Up section, run that and in the process you'll have the option to change it back to the older set up.

And YES this is the correct place for your question !

Thanks Jimbo,
I too am a Tigers Fan, ever since the 60's when Cleveland traded their best players to the Tigers, I just followed and have been a die hard fan ever since. I grew up listening to Ernie Harwell on the radio as well.

I have changed the "dish type" in the dish configuration settings menu, but when I select "Continue" it goes to verify the satelite and it comes back with a message that says "no satelite found".

Since it says it can not find the satelite, I thought maybe my hardware or wires were bad, so I have test all of them with the system on the house and all the wires, multi Switch, etc work good with the Slim Line 3 dish. I also attached a signal meter when I am trying the Round 18, and I get a good signal with both lines. I have the satelite dish on the tri-pod sitting directly under the one at the house so I know it is directed pretty close. I have been working on this off and on for about 2 weeks and I got a signal one time last week and I thought I had the problem solved. But I used the receiver in the house again and it went back to Slimline 3 and last week end when I set it up again for the Round 18 , it would not work.

It seems like I am missing a step to make the reciever "save" the new setting when I change it (before it goes out to verify the satelite is connected)
Thanks again for your help. Tkissell

Curious, where in Northern Ohio are you ?

Your talking two different set ups (locations ?).

Once you do get the new recvr set up on the old dish, you are aware that you won't get any HD channels on that set up as it only points at the 101.

It sounds to me like you may not have the settings quite right or your 18" dish is not pointed at the 101 sat.

Another option would be to get yourself a newer Slimline dish to set up at the other location, then you would not have to reconfigure it each time.

Jimbo,
You got it right. I tried aiming it better and continued to scan the direction the one on the house is set to and the Round 18 finally came in ok. When I am away from the house, it doesn't matter about HD or local channels, so the Round 18 works fine. I now need to read the pointing data closer when I am away from the house and then set it up and scan the direction while watching the signal strength meters. I actually go to three or four places, so I can't mount it permanently, thats why I use the tripod.

Thanks again for the help, it is supprising how hearing from someone else helped me to go back over what I was sure was working and concentrate on only direction pointing.

I do the same thing to a certain extent, I use a tripod for when I'm out camping, but I use a regular (older Sidecar) slimline, though I am looking for a newer slimline at the moment.

Glad to see you were able to get it going.

Your right, when others throw ideas out there you often review what you've already done a little closer.
