How bad are the Browns???

IMO preseason doesn't count "while" both teams starters are playing. I also don't look at what teams starters lost and won. What I do consider is what each team did and didn't do. Sometimes you need to focus on how a team played and if the issues were caused by lack of starters at too many key positions, rust or a couple of mistakes.

What I saw from the Pats wasn't a lack of starters nor tons of rust. What I saw was a team that got nickel and dimed and had no way to stop it. They were clearly slapped in the face and didn't fight back for whatever reason. I still believe the Pats offensive line was starting to show its age and issues during the second half of last season when they had tons of games that were close against at the time bad teams. You cannot have that many close games with guys like Brady, Moss etc. I can see the problems in that offensive line and its hard to say if things will improve or get worse right now but its a major problem IMO. Also the losses on the Pats defense is being underplayed by the entire media but it didn't surprise me at all. The Pats window is now starting to close but that isn't to say they are a bad team. They are still a very good team who will be playing most likely the easiest schedule in all the NFL this year.

Also the Giants defensive line is without a doubt for real so they as such have a shot at winning it all. They have a fairly balanced team with a solid defensive line and that tends to fair well for winning.

Also the Bucs offensive line is also for real and they are loaded with running backs along with at least a top 5 defense. As such they also have a shot to win it all as well. The only concern is the wide receiver position as this will be the limit of this team.

The Saints also cannot give up the amount of points they did either. The fact is that yes preseason doesn't always dictate the course of the regular season but some aspects of preseason do show the true weaknesses of many teams. We must now look at what the Browns and Pats do next week to get a better idea of the state of each team as it appears that both teams will have most of their starters playing.

Anderson got banged up today...ouch...hopefully its not anything serious...otherwise HD-MM is going to throw his tv off the window.

I would agree its pre season, hell all the sports writers in detroit have the lions winning 9 games with what they have seen in two pre season games

I have never seen complete and total domination in the first quarter of a preseason game like that. The Giants first team absolutely humiliated the Browns first team. If they had bothed stayed on the field it may have ended up 100-3. And yes folks, the 1st quarter of the preseason is all that really counts when starters are playing starters. If the Browns don't get their act together they had better start scheduling some NCAA teams....... and not the good ones.

3 teams looked really bad in pre-season this weekend.

Cowboys, Chargers and Patriots.

I am willing to bet these teams will be fine come the regular season.

Never put any stock in anything you see in the pre-season.

And one that won't..... Bengals. They are on the verge of utter collapse.

Derek Anderson- Concussion
Sean Jones (our top safety)- Concussion
Josh Cribbs- Sprained Ankle
Braylon Edwards- DNP. Stitches in foot.
Shaun Rogers- DNP. Precautionary reasons.

Clearly this team needs to get healthy. And being on super short rest (5 days) before our 3rd preseason game, it's unclear how many key starters will even play now.

If anything positive can be taken from this game though, it's that this game may have humbled the Browns a bit. All off season, they've heard of the high expectations and how they will be in 5 prime time games. Well, if anything, this loss will motivate the Browns by showing that they still have work to do in order to meet these lofty expectations.

Does anyone remember last year's home opener against the Steelers? It was an ugly 34-7 loss with plenty of sacks, penalties and turnovers. Much like last nights preseason game against the Giants. We learned from that game and didn't lose another home game after that. That was the turning point in last season. Let's hope last night is a learning experience as well.

Why would ANYBODY make ANYTHING of PRESEASON??!! Whether it is the 1st minute or the 1st quarter?? Pre-season games are injuries just waiting to happen. That #1 pick a team just dished out ATLEAST $24 million in signing bonus BEFORE HAS EVEN PLAYED a down.....is one little hit away from a some walk on schmuck that has been cut by 6 teams....from killing all your dreams and a season.

Agreed. Skip Vurbano is just trying to stir the pot.

Didn't you read above, the Buccaneers are going to win the Superbowl and the Patriots will have the #1 pick?

The overreaction, both positive and negative, to preseason NFL every single year is laughable.

Randy Moss did not play 1 snap of preseason last year, how did that work out?

Well, that is another issue on to itself. I don't think players of THAT skill level, whether on defense and ONLY if coming off an injury should have to work so hard in training camp.

Well the 2nd team Brownies are much better then the 1st team.

I don't know if that's a good thing or not.

Now 30-17.

It means that the guys who won't make the team for the Browns are better than the guys who won't make the team for the Giants. :D

Monday night football- the G-String men will be exposed for the Super frauds they are!

Yeah, the Giants last year sucked. In the Playoffs they beat Tampa Bay then went to Dallas and beat what was the best team in the NFC all season. Then they went to Green Bay and beat the second best NFC team. In the Super Bowl they beat the invincible Patriots. Those Giants really are bad!!! Word. Stick to hockey.

Yup. That was one tough road to become Super Bowl Champions. They definitely deserved it.

What will be the first 'big game' of this NFL season?

John Madden not working this Sunday
