How are you liking Sling TV?

For $20 per month it's not bad but more would definitely make it be more attractive, especially with the convenience of watching anywhere on any device. Cable & Satellite TV seems so old & clunky to me now.

I tried it for the free week. I wanted to see a game on ESPN. Halfway through the fourth quarter the program crashed and would not restart. I had to restart the computer to get it to go again and then I couldn't log in. Kept telling me there was an issue. Finally got reconnected in time to see the last 6 seconds of the game. I cancelled the service the next day. Two thumbs down for me.

See below for info on which channels have replay and on demand. The biggest pain with that stuff -- and what will likely cause me to leave SlingTV -- is that if you get part way through a show and then have to stop watching it (or in my wife's case you fall asleep) then you want to watch it again later, you have to start over again at the very beginning! It really sucks when you are 75% through a show but do not getting to watch the end, then try to watch the end later. Sling really needs a way to skip through programs in 1/4 increments or something!

HBO you can FF. I know this because the Xbone app likes to freeze all the time and on HBO I was at least able to FF back to where I was.

I had it for a bit out of the gate at launch but i dont think the $20 justifies the content. My $8 at netflix still feels like it foes much farther since i dont have a big emphasis on ESPN

tried it ONLY so I could watch TWD on AMC Sunday night. absolutely hated the experience so I cancelled yesterday. I'll plug my laptop up and watch the episode Monday/Tuesday each week rather than deal with AMC on Sling. IF they offered Pause/REW/FF it would have been great, with everything that goes on in my house we have to have those because something always comes up where one of us needs to leave the room for a minute and we hate missing part of the show. Or we miss part of a conversation and wish to rewind it to hear it again. So until they (AMC) allow this we won't be going back with Sling.

If you watch for free on their website you are still going to get commercials and you still won't be able to skip through them. You would at least be able to pause though.

It's more expensive but another option is to buy the season pass on Amazon, iTunes, or another streaming service. It's more expensive but you'll have access to the new episodes before you wake up every Monday morning. It will also be in 1080p that looks better than what's available on Dish or cable and there are no commercials. That's how I kept up with Walking Dead when I didn't have cable.

yeah I know but pausing is more important to me than commercial skips. I thought about buying a season pass, and may still do that since I stream itunes to my roku and not have to plug the HDMI up directly.

If you are going to watch on a Roku you should probably just buy the season pass from Amazon or Vudu since you can do it directly on your Roku. I'm not sure if you even can buy video content from iTunes and stream it to a Roku. Maybe with something like Plex? Still there is probably DRM that might prevent that from working properly.

Is it true that Dish charges $20 per device?

I guess you could say that. You can tie your account to a bunch of different devices but you can only watch on one at a time. You can put the same account on your Xbox One in the living room and Rokus in a few bedrooms but you will only be able to watch on one of them at a time.

There isn't an additional feed fee like the extra receiver fee you would pay $7 for on a regular Dish account. If you want to watch on two devices at once you would need two accounts so I guess in some ways it could be interpreted as $20 per device.

Right that's what I thought, so if you are a Family of 4, That's a Minimum of $80 per month.

You might as well subscribe to Top 120 pack and save money.

I just read the Terms of service, and it States 1 stream at a time.

I was one of the lucky ones to get an early invite to join SlingTV, so have been using it for a couple of months now. While the picture quality is better than SD, it is not as good as HD. The number of channels available keeps growing too.
I use SlingTV on Roku 3, which is hard wired into my home network (I avoid wireless as much as possible, Especially when streaming!)
I have never had a black screen or any error messages at all (other than 1st time use which was a technical issue on SlingTV's side - it was still Beta back). I think SlingTV is worth the $20/mo.

Why is that a minimum of $80 per month? My family of 4 doesn't split off into 4 separate rooms where each person watches TV alone every day. One Sling TV account to go with Netflix and Amazon Prime would be plenty for us. Our entire day doesn't revolve around TV and we watch many things together as a family. If someone was watching something on Sling I didn't want to watch I'm sure I could find something on Netflix or Amazon.

The whole thing is unnecessary for me anyways. The reason I dropped Dish a couple years ago is because I realized I was paying over $100 per month for channels I wasn't even watching. I don't need Sling TV because I don't need live channels. I'm totally fine with OTA on my Tivo, a couple streaming services, and the occasional season pass for the cable shows I actually care about.

It saves a lot of money and I still have more TV content than I care to watch.

Your family may not, But I can tell you most people dont sit in the livingroom watching the same programming everytime they watch TV.
Because of this a family of 4 that wants to watch 4 things from Sling Tv at the same time NEEDS 4 Sling TV accounts.

Now add in the extras like HBO, Netflix and Hulu, and your right up there with pay tv.
But atleast Netflix offer 4 room streaming for $11.99.

Sling Tv for $20 for 1 Stream at a time is Blah!

Yeah, a family of 4 that wants to watch 4 things from Sling at the same time does need 4 accounts. That's not my family though and I'm not sure it's even close to the typical family who is looking to save money by cutting the cord.

You made it sound like a blanket statement where all families need an account for each person. I'm not sure my family could even find 4 things they want to watch that are available on Sling at the same time on a regular basis.

It may be a Blanket statement, Because not many people with children will find a one stream service sufficient when cord cutting.

Which is why the Sling Tv service subscriber count is dismal.

My grand daughter cut the cord and got a flat wall antenna and 3 Amazon fire sticks. She watches Amazon or Antenna on her tv and her two boy each watch cartoons on their Amazon fire stick. They never watch tv together. They only watch the free stuff on Amazon, so her monthly cost is Zero.

I have thought about getting a TiVo Bolt and hooking up to my big TV. four tuners and a monthly cost for the tv guide. I get 42 channels off my antenna; have to have a DVR and hate commercials, especially after watching the same commercial 6 times during the same show. I mostly watch the networks.
