I'm surprised that Oklahoma was invited.... with thier track record in Bowl games, I didn't think the SEC would be interested. They are in the same boat as the Buckeyes when it comes to winning bowl games.
Matter of fact, I would think that OSU might be a bit better.

Record meant nothing. Just look at the last 2 additions (Arkansas & USC).

What mattered were the Texas & Oklahoma markets. Huge recruiting hotbeds for the SEC.

Exactly It was all about Recruiting in New Markets and New TV Markets,Revenue Sources.

That's why Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M and even Maryland,Virginia and possibly Missouri and Kansas were on the short list and the Florida State Miami, Ga Tech's of the world were nowhere close.
