I have 2 Seagates, both EHDs. They are sparsely used (just for backup purposes mostly). Hopefully I'll keep the run time down to a minimum to prolong their life. As a rule I try to stay with WD, but these two drives were a steal on Black Friday.
I had a WD with that problem. Long time ago. I could get it spinning by giving it a quick twist back and forth in the plane of the disk platters.
Other than that old, old problem, I prefer WD hard drives today.
