Just had a Hopper and two Joey's installed, replacing my old 622 and 612. I was so looking forward to joining the 21st century. But since the installation my router is complaining about spoofing on the internal network. For example, I plugged my Hopper in, and immediately my router complains like this (messages are chronologically read bottom to top):
Apr/16/2014 07:05:37 Target IP(192.168.0.1), Target Port(5678) Packet Dropped
Apr/16/2014 07:05:37 Spoof IP(192.168.0.107), Spoof Port(37167)

The MAC address is from Echostar, and the messages continue until I unplug the Hopper. I have 3%-5% packet loss as the router struggles to manage this anomaly. Unfortunately, this drives my VPN client and VoIP service a little nuts. The condition definitely correlates to the Hopper, as the messages start and stop my plugging and unplugging it.

Anyone else seen anything like this.

Did a quick Google search and found hundreds of hits from people having the same type of problem going back to 2002. Do a search for "Spoof Attack fromd MAC" with the misspelling.

It looks like it can happen to any type of hardware; Windows, bridges, printers, etc. Almost all the reports claim the router is a D-Link. I only saw one that reported a TrendNet router (which could be a rebadged D-Link). The fact that every report has the misspelled log entry tells me that this is somewhere in the router...

There doesn't seem to be any consistent cure for the problem. One interesting thread had the problem show up after a router firmware upgrade, and cured by going back one release. If you have not checked for a firmware upgrade for your router, that might be a place to start.

I looked at my router logs and don't see anything like this from my Hopper or HWS. I have a Netgear router.

I had all sorts of sporadic problems with some (but, not all) of my connected components with my dLink router and especially, wireless. All issues disappeared with a new Netgear replacement.

rharkins, D.Manley thanks for the notes. Yes, I suspected my quite old primary router - a Dlink was the actual source of the problem. Sense a trend? I mean, I JUST now swapped out my 622.

Swapped out the Dlink with a brand new Netgear and all is right with the world. Now, on to putting my new wireless Joey through its paces ....

I recently bought a D-Link router which drove me crazy. Had to reboot it multiple times a day. It is now shelfware.

Replaced with an Asus router and now running steady for many weeks.

Some channels not available in HD on Eastern Arc?
