Hopper S229 / S230 Feedback!

Not sure if anyone posted this already but I believe the other big feature in this is the ability to select and delete multiple recordings in a show's folder. Finally. Just go to the green edit button when in a recording folder.

Nice touch.

Earlier I reported that recordings transfer wasn't working as expected when transferring from External to Hopper. I have to amend that. Immediately after transfer, selecting/playing the recording failed to do anything.

I just checked now, and it was playable without a problem. I am now transferring back to a 2nd external drive to see what happens.

The might have fixed the recordings transfer issue. I'll report back later.

Is anyone getting OTA guide info for stations from adjacent DMAs? My adjacent locals are not not fully populating in the guide. More time? Seems like I've been connected long enough for the guide to populate.

I had previously set a Seek and Record on Wednesday for Big Bang Theory, and it doesn't pick up the DISH supplied local prime time broadcast; so I set one timer just for the DISH local to grab that. I check on Friday morning and I have s230 and the current Joey s/w. The day before's (Thursday) episodes were not recorded and in the DVR, so I checked the Schedule history, and this is what I see...

Agree, the old delete limitations were a PIA. This is much nicer, reminiscent of the 6/722 functionality.

When deleting files from the PTAT or My Recording folders the cursor stays in place after the file is deleted instead of jumping back to the top like it used to.

My Dish Networks locals are Miami. I also get OTA locals from West Palm Beach. The guide did not populate for West Palm Beach channels until the next morning.

Really nice to hear that so many of you have gotten 229 and many have been upgraded further to 230. But could someone with some inside knowledge explain why so many of us are still sitting at 222 and therefor cannot use the new features or the OTA module that is now gathering dust in the box.

The details came form the other site. Dish sets in the upgrade code flags. ONLY DVRs meeting the requiremetns get the ugprade, this allows them to do a phased rollout.
Your receiver ID MUST be in the range to get it. As of Yesterday 6PM this was the range. We are not sure if they change it over the weekend as there is a limited support team working weekends.
I hope someone automates this info so we can check a web page or something daily to know if we are next plus it would be good info for future upgrades.

I'm no insider but over the years observations tell me it's done by receiver number selection. What's odd with this release, at least for me is, in the past I've always been in the latter tiers of receiving upgrades. This time I apparently was in the first group to receive the new software....what does it mean....? way to deep for me to step in......

They release software in small batches initially to avoid any critical issues migrating to the whole installed base of hoppers. It sounds like they already caught one bug with s229 and moved to s230. This is probably the biggest update since the summer.

Just wondering what the latest update range is. Can some of you out there that got it post the first FIVE numbers after your R number.
Just push Setup Twice to see it. It is the second line under Receiver CD ID num
Do not post the whole number as that is like a serial number which links back to your account.
No need to post if you did not get the update.
Mine is way up there at R18841 so I may be last. (just got it a couple of weeks ago)

Example I got it, my number is R18811 or R18812

I think Fridays range was:

S230: In the DVR menu you can access the Deleted Recording section with the RED key, but once you are in the Deleted Recordings you can not use the RED key again to access other sections. You have to hit cancel which is counter intuitive.

Installed my OTA adapter last night with an inexpensive indoor HDTV antenna. After running an initial scan, the adapter found 98 OTA channels. I edited that list down to 32 worthwhile channels. Overnight the guide populated on all but about 10 of these channels.

By experimenting, I figured out that you could directly access an OTA channel by entering the 4 or 5 digits in the channel number. For example to change to channel 11-02 enter 0112 or 01102.

One bug that I find annoying is the built-in "My Off-Air" list in the Guide. You would expect that once you selected this list that surfing with channel up and channel down would restrict you to just the OTA channels that you've configured. Not so. Surfing up and down the list of OTA channels reverts to "My Channels" as soon as you change channel for the first time. I've created my own "Locals" list in the guide as a work-around but that is a waste of precious resources.

Still the OTA adapter is a super addition to my Hopper! Good work Dish.

It won't work as has been previously stated. The latest software enables the OTA tuner.
