It's on 24/7?? My first thought was Primetime Anytime was on, if it's just in the evening or maybe a short just has the light stuck on red

Dish could indicate how many tuners are recording with 4 small red led's, but then you'd have to be able to read binary.
Alternatively, they could use a numerical led display, but then somebody would want to know which tuners are active.

They could make the 4 small red led's, each one with a different shade of red.
