Hopper Plus new hardware??

So- the Hopper Plus could contain a combined ATSC 1 and ATSC 3 OTA tuner. Could. Just positing. I expect demand for such OTA tuner to be so low that it would still make sense to only provide that functionality in an offboard extra cost dongle. Or am I missing something? Some reason to build such in.

I am trying to figure out what other features the Plus might have, besides Internet streaming. If any.

What were guesses on previous proposed Dish equipment? Breakfast and popcorn maker? :D
well atleast it won't get headaches doing daily tasks like humans do;):p:biggrin

Who are you to say that Dish is not developing a Hopper with 256 tuners and a 32 TB SSD?

I, too, appreciate the posts that help users with problems. The problem here is that users want to know about the "Hopper Plus New Hardware". The posts that help those users with a solution to that problem is that they provide their input on that New Hardware. I, for one, say "You're welcome. "

Are you, in fact, implying that Dish is developing a Hopper with 256 tuners and more than a 32 TB SSD? Or, a liquid-cooled 64 TB spinning hard drive array? Silence implies consent.
The whole receiver is designed to be placed in your aquarium for better cooling so you won't have to worry about putting the receiver in a confined space on a shelf. If you don't have an aquarium you can use a wash tub filled with cold water but be sure to replace the water when it begins to boil or swap tubs and take a warm bath.

Man has this one gone off track. We were talking about equipment that does not exist yet.

Maybe I will come and check in to this thread in a few months and see if we have got back on topic or not. LOL.
Maybe June, 2022, a year after this thread reported new Hopper+ and Joey hardware? That sounds about right…

See, this is the kind of innovative thinking that made this country, uh, what it is today.

At a company where I worked for a few decades, it was sometimes suggested that we net things out and "don't boil the ocean." To which I helpfully replied, "what if we just boil the bathtub?"

Found this-

Then this-

which shows everything sent to the FCC for testing, the most recent is in November, 2021 for, I assume, the Hopper Plus attachment.

Remember because something is before the FCC does not necessarily mean it will be released. Remember the Dish DVD, The Sling Tv.. TV, the Dish touchscreen remote and so on. ;)

You forgot to mention the Sling Extender. That would have gotten an instant purchase from me, despite the lag (?) you reported.
they made something with a DVD player on it moons ago
Are you thinking of the Dish/JVC VCR recorder?

I know that, at least Dish is trying to develop new stuff, unlike DirecTV who seem to be just waiting for that final day of their Satellite Service, there is not even a rumor of any new boxes being developed, their equipment have to be getting up there in age as far as tech goes.

See my current avatar… :D This was our second Dish Receiver after our 2000. It solved the problem of recording events off the satellite. I had recorded most of Babylon V and Star Trek: Voyager episodes from local and Super Stations. I was holding out hope that the HD Upgrade for the 5000 receiver would work on the JVC S-VHS unit which was based on the 5000 receiver.

I still have the tapes, but no way to play them back.

There a few other unreleased things that were announced and never saw the light of day.

The Dish DVD was a Dish receiver that also had a built in DVD player in it. So you could watch dish or dvd’d from on input.

They even showed it off on the Charlie Chats a few times. But it was never released.

Isn't a new user interface LONG overdue? I've been a Dish customer for something like 15 years. The user interface I don't think has changed one lick since I came on board.

The UI changed in 2016, I believe it was, with the launch of the Carbon UI.

Edit to add:

The UI is also obviously different than any of the SD equipment, that had the original UI. That’s 4 different UI’s I can think of. The original, the VIP, the Hopper, the Carbon UI. There is a 5th and 6th as well, less known about. The 922(parent to the Hopper child of the VIP 722) and the 381 which combined an input with ab output so your vcr could plug straight through your Dish. The Hopper needs that for game systems, such as Xbox or PS.

Scott, where are all those videos that you promised?
