Great news! Ill try mine tonight!jgags6 day two with the HDMI splitter installed. My Vizio TV fired up again. I'm on a roll.
jgags6 I hope your new HDMI splitter works too for your Samsung. These splitters have EDID emulator settings. I am totally confused what the hell this is but I did not change my settings. The instructions are clear as mud to me. All I did was plug the splitter in, Joey to in port and my Vizio TV to #1 out port. Not using #2 out port. I hope my TV keeps working on startup for the next three days. If so, I am going to flip-flop my J4 and WJ4 back to their original positions and see how goes it. I still have my J4 mated to my problematic Vizio.Great news! Ill try mine tonight!
jgags6 this is three days in a row my Vizio initial start up of the day worked good. Wonder how adding a splitter fixed this issue. Something to do with the HDMI video signal I guess. Sound has always worked before. I have decided to go ahead and flip-flop my J4 and WJ4 back to their original positions and see how goes it in the morning. Have you tried out your new splitter yet jgags6?jgags6 I hope your new HDMI splitter works too for your Samsung. These splitters have EDID emulator settings. If this works for you then your issue is most likely an HDCP handshake issue. That splitter strips the HDCP signal off. I had the same issue with an older Samsung television which technically supported the current HDCP standard but still had intermittent issues with handshaking using my Tivo system mini (same concept as your Joey). If you Visio was pretty old I could understand it having issues with this as well but if the Samsung is new I don't understand that one. I would think Samsung would have fixed their handshake issue by now.jgags6 day one after installing a HDMI splitter in my Vizio. TV started right up this morning. Hope it keeps it up.
BLC1962 thanks. I guess it is some kind of video signal issue. Very strange the black screen with sound only happens for the first startup of the day. Then rest of the day no issues turning the Joey/TV on. It's as if something in the over nite DISH updates upsets this Vizio. Reboot fixes it. The TV I am having issues with is a 2015 Vizio. My older 2009 Vizio connected to the same WJ4 has no issue with initial startup of the day. I tried four different good HDMI cables. Very strange, but adding a HDMI splitter is working, so far.If this works for you then your issue is most likely an HDCP handshake issue. That splitter strips the HDCP signal off. Congrats jgags6. Awesome news. My Vizio has worked good too four mornings in a row with the HDMI emulator splitter. I even disconnected the USB power to the splitter yesterday and my WJ4 fired right up this morning. Thanks to you contacting your local AV retailer and figure out something to try. I will inform DISH support thru SatGuys conversation message what fixed this black screen issue. Thanks again. You have been a big help. Also, thanks to other SatGuys member who have tried to figure out this nightmare. Two days in a row that my Samsung has worked without having to reset the Joey after installing the emulator. So looks like that took care of it. Finally!!
Which is the one you're using? I want to relay that to Dish so they can see why it works and how to fix the issue so it's not neededjgags6 day one after installing a HDMI splitter in my Vizio. TV started right up this morning. Hope it keeps it up.
