Hopper OTA USB problems

I am about 48 miles from the transmitter for most of our channels and about 2 miles for transmitter on 1 station and I have been impressed with reception so far. 14 foot winegard VHF and XG91 UHF into Channel Master 7777.

So I plugged my ota adapter back into my hopper thinking maybe it was a software issue between my hoppers with s230, Now I have S234 same problem. When I have three tuners going and ota, I still cannot access my that hopper from my other hopper so it must be the OTA module itself is defective somehow because no one else has reported this problem. So I will have to wait until they have them back in stock and order another one. :(

I believe they've been back in-stock on the Dish website for a few days now. Message DIRT, maybe they can arrange some sort of swap for your existing one.

I'm the original poster on this subject. Just had a black OTA screen yesterday... I seem to averaging this issue about once a week. Rescan the locals and it's good for another week, but I have to redo the timers. Never had anything like this with the 722 I had previously. Have any DIRT members responded to this thread?

THe OTA module has a 1 year warranty Dish should replace this for you.

I haven't seen a black screen since I received S234. I'm not using it for timers but before I would get black screens every day. A rescan fixed it. I did eliminate a local channel that had a weak signal. I don't watch ti anyway.

What are the reasons DISH would suggest, for proper operation, that the tuner should remain flat? I just don't buy it and think it's akin to superstition. I'd put credence behind it if they thought the heat dissipation through convection was enhanced by certain positioning. Do they think some EMI/RFI is reduced by orientation? Should they have built the case from metal to give it a Faraday cage affect? I'd like to hear a sound reason for orientation.
In their pre-release days, someone probably had the unit unplug itself, so they want to guard against that being a problem.

I've gotten it with S234. Usually when switching ota channels. As I said before, a rescan is not necessary. All I did was a plug reboot and they came back.
