Hopper Guide Missing HD designation

I just looked at the channels between 300 to about 388 and I have VOD, SD, HD labels and I am on H388 on the Hopper 3 with Hopper Plus.

That's strange because my Hopper 3 is on 388 and many others on 388 have also commented that the HD/SD designations are gone. Are you sure your system was updated?

I don't see why DISH doesn't go ahead and migrate all the SD movie channels to streaming HD channels since you can record them now. I hate watching movies in SD and have never even tried to watch them if they are in SD. I saw at my buddy's house that HBO is all HD now, including the streaming channels.
I agree that all (extra money) movie channels should be in HD. I don't agree that they should be over streaming. I have been a Dish customer for over 25 years precisely because it's delivered over satellite. I don't need Dish sucking up my capped internet service.

I have the hopper update 389 and I no longer have the HD status on the guide either. I believe Dish is planning to only have HD channels on sat and SD on stream for the most part. Dish is moving the EchoStar 15 sat from 61w to 118.8 w to be next to EchoStar 14 at 119 w to add more capacity for upgrading present SD channels to HD and adding new HD channels. EchoStar 15 only has 32 conus transponders so it will not have any locals on it and will only have the national networks. EchoStar 14 will only have the locals on it do it having the spotbeam transponders. The move of EchoStar 15 should be done by this summer and we should see some channel shuffling between the 2 sats then.

Ofcourse my system is updated or else how would I know what version I am on but Bobby has a good point, I have the Hopper Plus attached, didn't realize the guides were different as I don't use the guide 99% of the time except to set timers.

I think they should be offered in both HD and SD, the SD is more for the recording since unless the internal HDD were larger in capacity and external HDDs had a higher storage limit per device and total, space will run out very fast with HD.

That is not true, they are moving both SD and HD channels to streaming, atleast for international channels which are on 118.
