HOPPER 3 UPGRADES

I've talked casually with every installer that's done work at our home and my impression of every one of them is that once they clock out, they have no interest in satellite TV stuff. I don't mean that in a negative way either....
Agreed - to them it is a job and most of them look for something else to do in their off time. To most of the people on this forum it is an interest so we obsess with it, like in my case, for short periods of time.

No, it's not. Generally speaking, if the TV is off, the receiver is off. The only time that's not the case is when there's a recording in process or someone is using a Joey.
Not for me, there is the nightly 1:00AM reboot event. I have the box go on auto-tune at 2:00AM so the box is always on a channel so when my mom turns the tv on, it's already tuned to that channel and I can go back an hour if I needed to. I don't have a Joey and recording still would leave the box in standby mode as you would have to hit select to turn it on.

Thanks!
It's okay since all my video is still 1080i or whatever the dish outputs or SD.
You don't sound too impressed?

I was wondering if Oleds need a high quality source to really shine like a high end plasma I have which pq looked bad with Dish but stunning with bluray & streams like Hulu & Netflix. However Dish looked okay on a much cheaper plasma in the same house hooked up to a Joey. A TV expert told me once that can happen as cheaper screens can hide the defects of a lower quality source, while the bigger & higher quality screens can magnify them.

RandallW from DIRT, got me all fixed up and they were able to push the order thru over the phone. Install scheduled for Saturday. After calling in and finishing the deal, I did have to purchase the 6th Joey for $50. Either way, nightmare seems to be over.

Well after several beat around the bush pms (I tried to negate that from the beginning and just get the pricing details out in the open but NOOOOO! The guy wants to waste my time and his with multiple messages. So finally we get to his last message "With the plan and equipment upgrade you will see an increase of $8. and a onetime fee of $150." BUZZZZZ Times up you lost the Super Bowl. Nope not for me. To pay $150 to then pay again monthly to use the equipment. NOPE NADDA SEE YA LATER.

Just got off the phone and CSR was finally able to break the low beam logjam at least for my area (Rhode Island). Install scheduled for tomorrow! !

To be honest, I am still watching SD material so it's hard to say... And besides, been busy enough trying to set the various picture settings so haven't really given the tv some good content yet. I had a Pioneer PDP4330HD 1024x768 Plasma from 2002 which got replaced with the OLED. From reading what others said, both D*TV and DISH compresses the signal so it will not look it's best. I just know HD channels look awesome though.

Will give that a shot as I think I have it in native resolution rather than a specific resolution.... I actually have the DISH H2K going through the Oppo BDP-105D Player which upconverts to 4K.

The current thinking is that the tv does ambettermjobmofmupscalingmthan do the up scaling players and AVRs. Btw, there is no "native resolution" on Dish receivers.
