Hopper 3 bit the dust

Had a music channel on listening to it while cleaning the house and wham bam the loudest clap of thunder or lightning I don't know which but it scared me.Lost electricity for about 2 minutes didn't mess with Hopper for another hour just left it turned off. When I turned tv back on just a black screen used remote to turn on Hopper and nothing. Hopper was making a continous whirring noise. Unplugged it waite 25 seconds and plugged it back in. Still nothing just the whirring noise. I notified dish and they will be sending a replacement receiver. I thought it to a dish technician to install these. Any ideas as to what to expect and look out for. I have hooked up 622 receivers before so I know a little about it. I hope they have some good instructions with it.

Unhook old receiver, hook up new receiver, follow on-screen instructions. Unless your LNB's are also fried, in which case a tech WILL need to come down.

If you get a lot of dangerous lightning storms, I would suggest putting your receiver(s) on UPS battery backups. Hopefully your dish is also properly grounded.

It is simple to replace a H3. Unplug the existing H3. Set each one side by side, unplug a wire from the existing one and plug it into the exact same place on the new one. Rinse and repeat for all existing wires. When all is done, plug the new H3 in and let it boot up. Follow the instructions on your TV screen. When you get to activation, call the number that is on your screen.

The trade is still the same. Once he has the new Hopper wired he can do his check switch to see if the LNBs fried....
