I recently moved and the put a new home connection kit? That connects direct tv to the Internet. It's an adapter that I believes transfers the cat 5 to coax. If I have an HR 34 can I just connect a LAN into the back of it and use that as a Internet connection. My wifi does not reach all the way to my living room without slowing down so I wil just like to move it to my living room and then use a LAN cable to power the Internet. Is this something that can be done?

If im reading this right both are acceptable, however you described two different products. When you say wifi, the hr24 is not wifi compatible, nor is any other receiver *currently* released by dtv. When you described the cinema connection kit, you said ethernet, not wireless, so im confused where wifi comes into place. The hr34 (genie) you can hardwire you network with cat 5 straight in, red button reset, and in 24hrs your good to go. The hr24 requires a cck, either wired or wireless. If you have a router or cat5 connection near, you can feed the internet into the cck that way, and the coax jack needs to be introduced into the swm setup via a splitter. So the coax needs to connect to an open jack on the main splitter, or into a 2way somewhere in your setup if there is no open line. Hope this help, feel free to reply and clarify your op, or question my reply :)

Just plug the CAT5 cable from your router directly into your HR34, your receiver and the clients will have access to the internet.

I have my modem and wifi router located in the master closet. The connected home adapter is in the same closet. My issue is that I have to keep the router in the closet right now because it is powering the adapter. I would like to move the router to the living room but I only have one cat 5 run to the living room so I would need it to connect the modem to the router. If I have an HR 34 and and HR 24 in the same house will I still need to utilize the connected home adapter or can the HR 24 utilize the Internet thru the HR 34?

If you move the router to the Living room, then run an ethernet cable from the router to the HR34, you'll be fine.
The HR34 has its own adapter built in, so it will provide internet to the HR24 through the Coax cable.

I have the home wiring to do this and a wifi extender is another 79. I appriciate all the help from everyone.
