Hey Satguys
Came across this thread in google awhile back and didn't think much of it but looks like its been re-hashed again LOL. Since I am the owner/admin thought I'd stop over and set the record straight for anyone who is interested.
First, looks like 2 different sites being talked about in this thread. I know nothing about the Houston guy/place. I'm in MN, my partner micki is in Ontario.
We started our site as a True/real FTA forum simply because of the lack of the number of decent ones and, well I know something about it so why not. I also saw that out of the few legit satellite sites not many catered to the newbie all the way up to the experienced old timers. We wanted to get good easy to understand info all in one place, with a slighly untraditional flare and bit of fun to it. And yes, I am more than happy to lead former pirates to real satellite with a real dish and motor. Sure beats having all those boxes collecting dust.
BTW I'm not here to plug our site or the store so I won't even mention the name, its already been done.
It was suggested earlier in the thread that our site was a former pirate site that we bought and cleaned up. I actually built it from the ground up on a MyBB forums base that I wrote much of the PHP and HTML for myself, its pretty mutated compared to most MyBB boards. And FYI emenace is a free host, we did not have a domain name so were on a free subdomain at the time.
We did not originally have a store or anything. The opprotunity to retail DMS products was made available to us and we figured why not? That way we know that we can point our members to good products at good prices without wondering or relying on another dealer. Anyway long story short we don't sell much or advertise on other sites and basically make enough to cover the operating cost of hosting, domain names and the forums. Our focus has always been on trying to provide the best real FTA information while having some fun.
And no, the girls don't come with anything, just part of our little corner of the net being a bit different. Certainly memorable at least. LOL.
Same with the site name, kinda an inside joke between micki & I.
Someone mentioned about our store and no phone number. Maybe its just me but I prefer not to publish personal info on the net. I talk to people if they want to, drop an email and I'm happy to call or drop the number, I just don't like to publish it. For business purposes we are outside Saint Paul, Minnesota BTW.
So anyway not here to plug the site, thought I'd set the record straight and say Hi since its been brought up again.
BTW some great info here at Satguys, I do occasionally browse as a guest, now as a member since I signed up finally.
