HGTV and the Food Network

Scott, if I miss my guess, I think you know something. You have done these little hints before. I remember it just before SciFi channel was added.
Gutter, very clever of you to pick up on that. I bet you are onto something. I will watch for these sneaky patterns :dev more carefully in the future. Never occurred to me.

Of course, Scott cannot/will not say. So we will wait and be surprised... :bounce And it is about time for another Voom surprise!

I'm buying my first house next week -- so I'm thinkin' HGTV might be nice to have. And isn't there something called DIY out there? No interest in Food Network at all.

I guess if your a Lady HGTV and Food Network will be awesome to have but how many men watch the Food Network. :D

Hey watch it fella. I am no "girlie-man" but I enjoy the Food Network and have missed it for a long time. I like to dabble in the kitchen and the shows area great and also funny. However, it is meant for HD. This is not in VOOM's control but sure wish they would go HD.

Yes Scott has been tricky before but I like the way he teases. Now if you read between the lines of his original post, I say it sounds like it will happen by early next week before Thanksgiving. In the past, many others have mentioned that these two channels are a must in their household and makes the switch to VOOM easier. Hope they are still are reading.

We shall see.

Did you see Scott's response to me on Page 1? Could be.

I sure wish VOOM would get these channels soon. I'm paying $40 a month to Adelphia for HGTV because it's my wife's favorite channel. :(

Food Network is one of the most popular channels...I'm very surprised VOOM doesn't already have it. Here is a story I was told when I signed up to VOOM by the CSR.....The guy told me that VOOM was adding CMT (Country Music Television) in HD on Nov 4th. I thought it was pretty cool. Well Nov 4th rolls around and there was no CMT? So I called VOOM and they told me they were not adding CMT. I told them what the CSR guy told me and they said "Umm sir I don't know why he would tell you that" So bascially I was LIED to and that is not a way to run a company!!!!!!!!! This is just one of the many things I hate about VOOM as a company. I like the concept of VOOM just not the comapny and their employees

I would never pay attention to what a csr is telling you, they will tell you that they have a nucleur underwater basketweaving hd channel if they think it will get you interested.

today after doing my channel scan I picked up HGTV & Food Network with only audio though. I wonder why I can get a picture
Man you must have a magic box. :D

I don't know it's pretty weird. LOL I also picked up Lifetime and LMN (Lifetime Movie Network). I called VOOM and they were just as in the dark as I. I told them I have audio but no picture and would like to know how to fix it. I'd really like these channels if I can get them OTA

Maybe it's b/c you're in a USDTV area. It's a service that provides a few basic cable channels, Food and HGTV among them, via digital OTA. You're somehow picking those up, but b/c the signal is encrypted, you only get audio.

Reminds me of when I had analog cable and sometimes got audio from the scrambled porn channels :)

Yeah, I know about USDTV. I use to have them but they were crap with only 26 channels. I called USDTV and they told me that I shouldn't be picking up their channels. I pick up the USDTV menu channel and that has audio and video. So if I can pick that one up I should be able to get the rest.

Yes, that's what must be going on. You can try hiding those channels if you don't want them. Doubt you will be able to get picture though.

I already did hide them. I did the channel scan so I could try to pick up PAX for my mom. Then they could drop Cox which they are still paying $123 (1 Digital Box & Cable Modem). I called PAX here in Las Vegas and they said they broadcast OTA. The only thing is there tower is towards the west and the other locals are to the southeast. The lady told me that if I turn the antenna inbetween them I should be able to get all of them (NBC, FOX, CBS, PBS, ABC, WB, PAX). Is this true?

Either that, or you will lose them all! ;)
Depending on the signal strength. If it's not too much trouble, give it a try!
