I have installed my FTA 2 years ago and it works fine. Now that I'm installing one at a friends house I cannot get any signal, the strength bar shows 0%, The dish is pointed for Telstar at Azimuth 183.4° and Elevation 46.6° the location's latitude is 37.39° and longitude is -94.68°, zip code 66762, and I stepped the dish in increments of 1° sideways and up and down and still signal strength 0%.

I took all the equipment except the dish and installed at my house with my dish and it works fine. Take it back to my friends house and no signal. We are hooking up receiver directly to TV. LNB is connected to receiver by a brand new 25 ft RG6 cable, no splicing anywhere. I checked the LNB end of cable with a voltmeter with receiver on and I get 14.1 V dc. The direction the dish is aimed is clear of any obstructions. The menu of the receiver displays fine on the TV except no signal being indicated by the receiver. What could be wrong? Help please, any ideas? The only thing I haven't switched out is the dish, but it looks fine. Any help would much appreciated.

Regards,

Hello and Welcome to the SatelliteGuys.US FTA Forum :wave

It sounds like a line of sight issue, but you say you are sure there is no obstructions?

The angles all look good!

It may be the dish/LNB. You may have different types and would have to enter different L.O. values.

Standard 10750

Universal 09750-10600

Thanks, moreover

I noticed that there is a radio or cell phone tower of some sort a few blocks behind the dish's location, about north-east from the dish, but it is not in front of the dish. Could that be causing interference? The location we are installing the FTA system at had a working Dish Network system that we took down to install the new dish and receiver for the FTA. I would assume if it is an interference problem it would have done so with the Dish Network also? Any more suggestions? Has anyone else run into a simillar problem?

Thanks.

Try a cheap "satellite finder meter" down at the dish. Markings can be mislabeled. Use a compass for azimuth and protractor for elevation.
