Hi - I'm in between moves and bought a used slimline off of CL to put on the balcony while I wait to move. I built a tripod and mounted the dish and that's where it ended. Here is what I have and I tried to upload images but the file management piece doesn't work well with my ipad.

Setup:
* DirecTV slimline 3 ? LNB dish
* 3 LNB with green SWIM sticker on it
* HR24-500 receiver

* Link to pictures https://drive.google.com/?authuser=0#folders/0B_FMOF7_wkIsWU9lVTZSb1NEX3M

I have the dish mounted but there is 4 cables coming out. I don't recall this being the case at my former residence. I thought it was just one? Anyway do I need something(s) between the cables and my receiver? I've read through other similar threads but I'm still a bit confused.
?Thanks in advance for any help :)

:welcome to Satelliteguys bricktamland!

I'm already confused! :) You say the lnb has a green swm sticker, but you also say there are four cables coming out. Out from where? A swm lnb only has a connection for one cable. If you do have a swm lnb, you will need a power inserter, too.

I posted a link to the pictures. Take a look

Take the lnb off and see if it is indeed a swm lnb. If there are four connections on it, then it isn't and all you have to do is run any two of the cables to the HR24. If it's not a swm lnb, you will need a b band converter for each line. If it is a swm lnb, you won't need the converters, but you will need a power inserter.

There should be two small screws at the end of the arm it attaches to.

image.jpgI don't know why there were four cords coming out, there's only one place to connect and it's connected. I'll upload the picture.

Ok, you have a SWM LNB with 1 output, run the line to a Power Inserter, then to the recvrer if you only have one recvr in the system, if more than one, you'll need a SWM Splitter.

This is a 5LNB swim- if its the same as the second to last picture showing where 1 coax is connected to it out of the arm
Throw the othere 3 coax wires that are not connected away insert a power inserter in line & hook up to HR receiver it should switch settings to swim automatically
