Hi guys;

Could you help me to set up dish in Canada

I just bought 311 DISH Network receiver with 30 inch eliptical dish in Florida and trying to set it up in Toronto, Canada.

I get 50 signal on 110 and 29 on 119, however I am unable to get 118.8.
Account is registered in Florida and I bought it to watch international channels which are on 118.8, that you can not get here in Canada.

This is 500 plus set consisting of one double LNB (including circular) and one single for 110.

Is my dish to small or is 118.8 spotbeamed to southern USA only

Please advice,

Regards;

wojak

The Dish 500 Plus works fine in Canada for 118.

If you can get 119 and the skew is set correctly, 118 will be there automatically.

Peano, thanks for reply;

I tried everything, dowloded DISH POINTER application on iphone, verified there are no obstructions, yesterday I even changed cables, I used the one that was installed by local installers and it worked at that time.

As of now I get up to 30 signal strengh on 119 and up to 50 on110

Under check switch, 118 still no signal

Strangely, when I check 118, on some transponders I get signal, it is red and under it says 110 not locked, 118 is circular lnb, so why is it cathcing 110?

Could someone confirm if channels 733 - 737 are spotbeamed if so all my work for nothing

Is it possible to watch programming registered in sotheastern USA, here in Canada?

Please help, been on the roof at leasr 20 times and my dish will soon be grinded by adjustment screws

thanks guys,

I got 2 LNB,s, one big with crystal eye, system was purchased recently from dishnet, lnb's are pro.
Went on the roof, checked dish, repointed, weak signal on 119 - 30, better on 110 - 50, and no signal on 118, also 118 still shows 110 signal after checking switch on some tp,s on TV. Starting to think that it really has to do with spot beams, since I do not have local channels as well. Any thoughts on that colleagues? Maybe should change LNB, but check switch shows all connected.
Friend came with ACCUTRACK meter. On the roof again.

That's good start - using sat-meter or spectrum analyzer to check signals on only one coax cable - FSS [118.75W] and tune by it level first. 119W will come after just fine, but 110W will be low - you should accept it.

total disaster today

In my case strangely, I get very good signal on 110 - 60 on meter

went up, took a dish apart and put it back together,
than tried connecting without switch, just one cable to 119,
went down and did check switch anyway as signal did not lock, it did not lock anyway,
reconnected all together with a switch and problem,
after check switch I do not get any satellites, just CONN CONN CONN, it shows signal but not locking, I had HBO and Americas 100, now nothing.
Very frustrating but i am learning a lot and loosing some weight

Would anybody know if doing FACTORY RESET on 311 will wipe all data, the receiver has no card, and I can't call DIshnet

Please help!

hmmmm... I didnt lose any free to air. Mine still works fine just as it has for 5+ years

oh thats right...some people think stealing Dish Network is free to air. :mad:
(not the brightest move admitting you stole Dish Network service especially to the FTA staff member)

Swap was a few months ago :):D

Hi Iceberg, you are wrong on the stealing comment, I am paying for my service in your country as Canada does not have enough programming going through hoops to do it, FTA just did not provide enough options.
What is that DNASP that Smith is asking?
Where are ur classified, I just see Bell Canada above

Better post then info then ask someone else. System Info screen snapshot would be enough, if the particular number hard to find :).

Back to 118.75W - I would do that by pointing to 119W first; just one coax from DSS output of the LNBF to a receiver - get max signal on say tp19; then switch the cable to FSS output on the big combo LNBF, change sat on receiver's menu to "118", it must be some level, not 0, then tweak your 30" dish for max signal.

oh no I am right on that...becaused you said

I got it a few weeks ago, because lost all FTA's in the spring

Free to air doesnt go down. Stealing DIsh Network/Bell TV and having them change cards which scrambled everything DOES

Well, you are wrong again, FTA channels come and go, nothing is forever

Channels do come and go but saying you "lost all FTA in the Spring" proves my point considering a card swap was done then :)

are you going to help me or insinuate something?
I dont need to insinuate something. You've already proven my point. ;)

Thanks for all the help Smith. Looks like I am not welcome on this site and I am not a crook as your buddy insinuates.
