I have a twinhan PCI card, that I had assumed was working fine up untill this weekend when there was find up but it was on a vertical transponder I finally figured out. But the problem is I cannot seem to get anything on vertical transponders. If I do a scan using ProgDVB, and sort the channels by tps., I show all horizontal ones. I have tried all different LOF setting and such, but nothing. I tried a different satellite, but still on horizontal. I tried an old different LNBF I had from dish network, and nothing.

Is there something I have to chage to get it to scan vertical ones, or is my card just hosed??

I take it you know about L/R H/V etc.

How long's your cable to the dish, if you have any switches/motors inline try taking them out, I have a feeling you're getting loss across the co-ax that prevents the voltage rise needed to switch between H/V L/R.

I'll have another think about it after I've had coffee :)

No, I don't. Where should I read? The cable run is only about 25 feet, and I have it going into a 4 port switch. I also took out the switch and went directly from the the card to the dish. I also tried another dish.

This may also go back to when I couldn't get FTA GolTV off dish. Maybe my card is bad? Is that possible a card can just scan one and not the other?

Your card *may* be bad if you're not getting vertical channels.
The standard switching voltages for polarisation are:
Vertical : +13V
Horizontal : +18V

Before we go into any depth with your card, past what settings you're using in ProgDVB, LO/SW etc.

Edit: You're using a DBS LNB, have you tried an FSS LNB too? which sats are you looking at? DBS and FSS have different standards and you'll be very hard pressed to pick up a decent DBS signal on an LNB designed for FSS and vice-versa.
DBS (Direct Broadcasting Satellite) are polarized L/R Left Right.
FSS (Fixed Satellite Service) are H/V.

For ProgDVB, I am using 11250 LOF1, 11250 LOF2, and 12700 SW.

I am using a dbs lnb, one that was left over from Directv when I got the 3 lnb dish. I also tried the lnb I had from when we left Dish Network.

I have scanned, Nimiq 1 and 2, and also 110 and 119 of E*. All horizontal.

Put ProgDVB on Circular, 11250, the other LO and SW will disappear.
Don't use the Phase3 LNB you probably have (Google it :) )
Which Dish Network LNB are you using now? is it from a Dish500?

I also tried the curcular at 11250, and I am not using a phase 3. It is an old directv dish with two lines from the lnb. I also tried an very old dish network dish, not a dish 500.

I am leaning towards the card being bad. I am considering a fortec.

Also can depend what satellite your tryinh to get vs. your lnb. Linear sats include AMC 4 / AMC 3 / AMC 2, circulars, say for NASA on ech0 2,4,6 are circular. Sometimes scew can also help. Make sure if you are using an HH motor or sg2100 that the pole is perfectly level/plumb. also make sure your linear or universal lnb is set at 0 degrees ( this will make sure when the dish moves that the scew is correct. If its a fixed dish, then rotate the lnb a bit each way while the signal/qual meter is beeping at you. This may help on the Verts/horiz transponders.

I know this is way old, but I wanted to update you all on this. I scanned IA5 this morning with my new Ku setup, and I was able to receive a few channels on vertical transponders. Last night I wasn't able to get any, but this morning, I was. So I am not sure of the problem. I am going to try to reposition as I was only getting 17% quality on one of those transponders, but was actually getting a signal. The level was around 70, but quality was real low. I am going to try G10R, and see if I can get all the equity channels on those vertical transponders, so I can watch the Royals game Sunday.

I am not motorized yet. I am really not sure what the heck was going on. I am trying now to get G10R and the channels I want are vertical, so I really hope I am not loosing it and thinking i got vertical.

we'll see.
