I still use the tried and true "lnb swap trick" i peak the 101 on a legacy ka/ku lnb then just swap a swm in over place of it. Again i use a birdog, these arnt crazy expensive on ebay, but i also use mine alot more frequently than some others.

For those that use the Birdog's, what model(s) should I be looking for ?
Theres about a half dozen out there now and how do you set it up to find only D* Sats ?

3plus 4 and ultra are the good ones. They should have dtv preprogrammed. All you gotta do is select the 101 or 119. Keep in mind the dtv aim is the only meter that will power a swb lnb. So you still need to peak and dither an au9 lnb. Then swap it over.

Great to hear you got it fixed Lee!
I have done about 20, 18" installs.
This guy really intimidated me, until we sapped on the new lnb, and I saw how simple it was. Once you it the 101, it's a cake walk. The easy part was the 18" was directly under the slimline. We were aiming too high, and a bad LNB. I'll do these now-A meter is not needed, It's no different from the old way. Thanks again guys!
