Hi Guys, I've got a couple of questions.

I live in Edmonton, Alberta and I installed a 10 ft dish and bought a coolsat fta. I'm having alot of trouble trying to find Satmex 6 at 113. I'm pretty sure I will not be able to receive anything from Satmex 6 since I am too far north. Is that correct?

I'm also wondering about what channels are showing up for you on Anik F2. On Cband I think I pointed at Anik F2 at 111.1 all I am getting is a test pattern that says "Telus" on the test pattern. On Ku band when I do a blind search on the coolsat I am getting about 4 channels. The channels that I am getting are "channel 4" "Shoppers Drug Mart" "Cars" "AIE Data???" Can some one confirm that this is Anik F2 or am I on the wrong satellite?

Also, I am using a chapparal wideband lnb. I thought this was suppose to pick up bell expressvu since it is able to pick up circular and linear c band? Is that correct because I have had no luck picking up Bell express vu.

Are you using a wideband feedhorn? the corotor II plus wideband feed is linear and circular C-band, though it is just linear Ku-band.

For dtv, Bell and dish net, you need circular Ku-band, not worth it really, not much free on bell and dish.

Hey guys, thanks for the help.

Yes it is a wideband corotor II plus. I have a subscription to Bell Expressvu so I thought I might be able to use this big dish and get rid of my small dish. I think I read somewhere that I could hook up the lnb that comes with the small dish onto the big dish. I will probably try that.

Thanks very much for the fast replies. Long time reader and first time poster.

Not Correct.

Since I'm only 300km south of your location I took the liberty of scanning SatMex 6 for you. I hadn't looked at this sat for months and it is amazing how much has changed with it in that time period.

Results of mine using a 10ft mesh dish and a Pansat 3500S (my new toy) with a Norsat 8115 C band LNB on an ADL RP1 C/Ku feedhorn.

Note that transponder frequencies may be a bit off from lyngsat due to equipment variability. Some of these may have been short term wildfeeds.

4077H 3609SR 25% Quality
3863H 3200 99%
3858 2803 60%
3821 3255 89%
3783 8789 50%
3769 ?? 50%

4096V 3720SR 75%
4076 3782 45%
3848 3219 75%
3802 27000 15%
3762 2315 45%
3754 2893 43%
3749 2893 30%

On SatMex 5 I get: (I am tree challenged on this sat and likely on SatMex 6 as well)

4197H 2500SR 75%
4134 3617 28%
4117 3255 30%
4078 2962 15%
3869 3000 60%
4053 4307 20%
4026 4600 45%
4001 3900 45%

3990V 8862 45%
3914 2946 30%
3712 6666 25%

On transponders with strong FEC (i.e. 1/2, 3/4) I can usually lock down to 20% Quality.

You should have similar performance in Edmonton. Remember that the satellite signal doesn't just disappear once you get to the edge of the main footprint.

Norsat lnb question

Anyone make Toroidals that are big enough to receive CBAND?
