Help Needed With SES3

What is your dish setup? I can get mid 70q on mine you need 76q on beach cams.

My set up is in my signature and like you, I presently get in the mid 70's for quality for the beach cams on ku and on the c band side the quality is also mid 70's.
 
I get 84 Q on beach cams and 0 Q on Cozi and NBC feeds here in t-Remi Quebec Canada
45 N 73 W.
As i said before i tried evreything possible to try.

It is frustrating to say the least, especially when the few signals I do get from SES3 are so strong.
 
I guess for those of us unable to receive the "full package" on SES3, there is no solution.
It is strange that I have no problem what so ever, with any other satellite.

I'm using the MicroHD receiver, and an A3 receiver with a 1.2m dish dedicated to Ses3, and I see NO real differences with the signal since they switched to this satellite. I did change my lnb skew to normal, from the abnormal skew the old sat had.

I don't see how changing the name of the sat would cause you to lose signal, that just doesn't make sense.

You might want to try to get Brian (Titanium) attention focused on this thread, and I'm sure he'll have a method to narrow down what's really going on, and probably a cure.

My suggestion would be to REBOOT, then create a totally NEW satellite position for this, and do a detailed blindscan, followed by a regular blindscan to see what happens.

MicroHD slaved with a 4Dtv? Using a splitter? Maybe there's a signal notch-out (I've seen this myself) going on here making you lose certain frequencies? Have you tightened up the connections, or tried swapping out the coax jumpers?

I will try a reboot again...tried it earlier, but this time I will delete satellite SES3 from the satellite list on my MicroHD, then reboot, Then I'll add SES3 back in and try those scans you mentioned. Not sure what you mean by "notch out" I checked all the connections in back of both receivers...all ok.
Brian...if you're out there, do you have any suggestions ?

Are you using a feedhorn with C and KU LNBs? If so, does the 4DTV supply the LNBs power? Does the microHD provide the LNB power? If so, set the micro LNB power to 18v on both the C and KU SES 3 satellite positions.

If this doesn't correct the problem, I might try two things.

1. Bypass the 4DTV and connect the C-band coax directly to the micro. Individually scan each polarity as you normally would. Repeat with the KU satellite position. Any difference?

2. Connect back up with the 4 DTV and splitters. Perform a factory reset and rescan the arc.
 
Hi Brian,

The 4DTV supplies my LNBs their power and I'm using a feedhorn with c and ku lnbs.
I will give your suggestions a try and let you know the results.

I tried all you suggested and unfortunately it didn't work.
I still ended up with what I had previously on SES3...beach cams and Microspace promo on ku.
On c band just Ant1, DW, SES promo, KTLN, KEEN and PBS east.
Again, all other satellites I can receive, are fine.

Hi Titanium i have the very same problem, 15 days ago Cozi and NBC were fine i am in Quebec Canada near the US
Platsburgth NY border not to far from JFOK, vertical TP are OK while horizontal are dead on my AzBox Minime, and breaking up on my Sathero sat finder, while all other sats are OK.
Something is wrong with the sat at the east end of the country i think the issue is with SES3.

One thing I did notice this time with my scanning of SES3, is that the V/H frequencies seem to be off a bit and both V and H are being scanned in, instead of the appropriate frequency.
The beach cams are coming in at 11790 V and H on ku band instead of the posted 11940 V.
On c band, PBS comes in at 4090 V and H instead of 4091 V. When scanning with my microHD, I always to make sure to specify V or H in the satellite scan set up. I'm wondering if my 4DTV receiver is failing causing the H and V frequency inaccuracy.
My signal strength on this satellite varies from 72-76.

On KU satellite, check the LO frequency. It is set to an incorrect LO setting and not set to match the KU LNB LO frequency.

Don't be too concerned about the C-band frequency being 1MHz off. This just means that the LNB may be starting to drift. It certainly would appear that the 4DTV is not rotating the polarity servo to the correct position for this satellite position. PBS will not be received on both horizontal and vertical unless the skew setting is incorrectly positioned. Place the micro on the correct vertical PBS channel and display the signal meter. Adjust the 4DTV skew to optimize then save the Vertical skew setting.

Now go into the micro install menu and select or enter the ION mux frequency 3840 H 26681. Adjust the 4DTV H polarity skew setting until this transponder locks and is optimized. Save the Horizontal skew setting.

Now try scanning the C and KU bands again.

Bobsav2001 - it gets very confusing to try and assist two different systems on the same thread at the same time. Different problems and too much searching through mixed posts. Maybe start a new thread or we will solve JFOK's problem first?
 
Doesn't the 4DTV receiver have some sort of switch to FLIP the polarity the opposite of whatever everybody else has ever used? Could that switch have gotten flipped?

I've never used one, but I've heard about this switch many times...

4DTVs do have a reverse polarity menu item, but in this case the incorrect setting doesn't seem likely likely. The Vertical transponders appear to be correct, but the Horizontal seems off (centered between the H/V. If the polarities were reversed, it would reason that all transponders would be incorrect polarity?
 
Well, unless we aren't getting the whole complete story, just changing the name of the satellite and re-scanning it certainly isn't going to cause this from one minute to the next!
 
Agreed, renaming a satellite name only would not change the LO, switch settings or skew. Instead of focusing on what got us to this troubleshooting point in time, I am instead focusing on the clues presented in the current scan results. Not much could provide those results other than a wrong receiver KU LO setting and a wrong 4DTV skew setting.

Bad blind scan results probably lead to changing settings out of frustration and often compounds a simple mistake into an entangled mess! :D

I tried your suggestion, finding the PBS feed and optimizing the correct (4091V) skew. The signal and strength were both in the mid 70's.
I then entered the ION feed numbers...3840 H 26681. There was no signal or strength readings form one end of the skew spectrum (-90 to +90) to the other.
When I initially deleted the SES3 c band and ku satellites from the micro HD list, I made sure that the settings (lnb and port) were entered properly for both after I added them back into the satellite list.
I will recheck my connections behind both receivers tomorrow.
