Here's the situation. I am a DirecTV customer and just moved to Washington, DC. For reasons too detailed to go into here, it is imperative I still receive the local Fox station from Denver (KDVR) here in DC. This reason is for business purposes and if I can't receive this station (I need to be able to record it at broadcast quality so Slingbox is not an option) it will end up costing me about $15,000 a year.
I thought I'd be able to simply be able to keep my Denver account open and bring one of my Denver DirecTV receivers with me to DC still get the Denver local affiliates, but after experimenting with that method today, I was disappointed to see that while my Dever receiver did work once hooked up to a dish here in DC, the locals do not come in. I get a "Programming Not available in your area" message on those channels.
I need to know if anyone has any suggestions for how I can get this channel? Is it technically even possible? I would think it is as I'm pretty sure it is up on a transponder somewhere (how else would DirecTV beam it to their customers in Colorado)? Please help!
Thanks. I look forward to your replies.
