Hi all,
Great to be back, use to visit here during the Voom days. See many of the same good folks are still here!

I bought a boat that has a satellite system on it. It is a SeaTel ST24 dish system (it compensates for the boats motion). There is a Channel Master Multi Switch 63141FD, the past owner used Direct TV through this switch, I am trying to get Dish Network via a new VIP211k. Talked with SeaTel and they helped get their system connected to the Dish satellites. We connected to 110 and 119 but there are obstructions in the way of 129 at my current location. (it is a boat and I can move if necessary). Best I can tell there are 2 RG6 cables coming from the dish. SeaTel found several incorrect settings in their system so now I am unsure what is right or wrong with the past install.

Problem is the satellite system is connecting to 110 and 119 but the 211k fails the Switch setup. SeaTel thinks it is because the dish box is looking for all three satellites and I have to manually switch from one satellite to another via the control panel. (haven't tried changing satellites during initialization yet) It seems to take it a few minutes to lock onto the next satellite when changed.

Thinking I should check with you guys, do I have a switch that will work? Should I try changing dishes manually every minute or two?

Any advice is greatly appreciated, boat is in Port Ludlow Washington. About 30 miles from Seattle.

Thanks and good to be back!

If there is any signal strength, it should load whatever satellites it finds in. It doesn't matter if just 1,2 or all 3. There are people that have used dish 300's on a 211 and gotten just one satellite.

ChadT41,
Thanks it is good to know that it will setup with just one of the satellites. I must have either a bad or incompatible switch or an open in the coax somewhere, the dish is locked on with good signal according to the control panel, but I cannot setup so must not be getting the signal to the receiver.

Do you still have the Channel Master switch in line?

Depends on the system, you more than likely may have to leave the setup only looking at 119.

Usually on those types of systems the switch is built into the Dish, and then the Dish will move to change between 119/110 and 129.

But then again, since it was setup with Directv to work with satellite 101 only (Most likely) and if its an older system the best you can do is reconfigure to work with 119 only.
