My HD DVD add on is supposed to be here tomorrow at LONG last! I bought 6 HD DVD's. My wife wants me to slow down buying stuff since Christmas is coming. So which has better service and better movies? NETFLIX-OR-Blockbuster?

This answer moght depend on your location. I like Blockbuster -- My reason is this -- I can order HD-dvds online, have them delivered and then go in store to return them and take out more movies while I wait for the new set of movies to be mailed --- all for the same price at Netflix --- I get my movies they next day they are shipped ---

So I get HD movies online and SD movies in store --- and I'm never without movies

I'm with Blockbuster, and have been pretty vocal about some of the issues here and on AVS.

Particularly, the website is a piece of crap. It sucks, plain and simple. The HD DVD Collection is way out of day.

Plus side is that you can return the movies to the store, and get quicker turn around time. My local store rents HD DVD and BR movies as well. Right now, I have 5 movies from the Online site, and 3 from the store at home, one shipped, and a weekly coupon for a free rental(I'm on the 3 out plan, but I actually have 9 out if you include the in-store rentals!). It's amazing how many movies you can watch if you are so inclined to.

Shipping from BB is a little slower for me (typically 2-4 days). However, if you haven't recieved a movie after 3 days from when it shipped, you can mark it missing and they ship you another movie next business day. Combine this with the Total Access program (where you return the movie to the store, and they ship the next from your queue next business day), this can really add up.

I've tried Netflix before, and selection was better, and so was the shipping times. However, after about 9 or so movies a month, they start shippping from far away so it takes longer to get the movies.

Seems that Netflix is winning 8:4 right now. I personally though about BB when they came out with the "Return to the store" deal since I pass my local one on my way to work every day. Not sure now though...

Netflix does have a much nicer website. Maybe everyone is using it, thats why you don't hear anyone except me complaining about the BB website. :D

Well last night i joined Netflix. There web site is much nicer. Looks like they have way more Hd dvd's and Blu ray. I don't have Blu ray yet but i know i am getting one for Christmas!!:D

Netflix websit is nicer....but I'm all for the most for your money. You get more for your $$$ with Blockbuster. With the in store returns and free rentals from the store that they give you per month....you really can't go wrong.

I don't think thats true. BB is only missing 3 titles (Casablanca, Forbidden Planet & Batman Begins). Last I checked Netflix was also missing 3 titles (Pitch Black, Friday Night Lights & Enter The Dragon).

So they both have the same amount of HD-DVD titles.

Ok thank you so much for your help! I went to Blockbuster again and looked and you are right! Its much easier at netflix to find HD movies. On line that is. Anyway i went ahead and joined Blockbuster and cancelled netflix. Thank you once again for your help!:D:hatsoff: Also what did it for me was Pitch Black & Enter The Dragon!

I guess I'll probably try both and see which I like better. I found a code yesterday for a free month of Netflix, I'll see what I can dig up for Blockbuster.

BlockBuster Edits there movies...
They are religious freaks and if the do not believe you should see something or hear some words on a movie (on tape.. I am sure they can not do it on DVD’s but who knows??)
HOW do I know that you ask I asked when rented People Vs Larry Flynt (1996) a lot of scenes where deleted from the movie when I returned the movie BB told that they a religious ran company and they EDIT the movies…
