Hello to everyone.

Very nice site, I have read on here quite a few times and now ready to join.

I have been in the hobby for years, started with a B.U.D years ago when alot of analog was up there, now I am living in a new house and deciding on what I am going to buy next.

Ok, I live in the beaumont area of Texas, and was hoping I could find someone around here with some equipment for sale but have had no luck. Sadoun is in south Houston now, which is cool, but the guy there said they are out of motors and only have 33" dishes. Problem is it is a 2 hour drive for me over there and i dont want to go just to get the Geosat microhd, so I am trying to piece together a good new or used 36" or larger ku band dish and a motor.

I heard alot of good things about the Geosat microhd, and the fact it is only $125 is awesome to me. I saw a guy on craigslist today giving away a 10 ft bud with everything! However my landlord would likely say no!

I have just a few questions.

1. I used to only have a sd receiver, with the hd now how many more feeds could i be expected to pick up? are their still alot of standard feeds or is it pretty much all hd now? in other words is it likely that there are twice as many feeds up there now with a hd receiver?

2. Are their still alot of tv shows wild feeds or scheduled feeds anymore or are they sending them in the mail and cpu nowdays? I used to watch almost all tv shows two to three days early.

3. I am a football junkie! I know I will get my Texans on locally, but are alot of nfl feeds on ku or are they just mostly on c band?

like i said I am getting back into this, I will answer any questions I can and do whatever to help out my fellow satellite brothers.

Thanks for the site!

Welcome to the site skyscanner!!

You will for sure want to go with a HD receiver. There are still a lot of SD feeds up there, but month after month, more and more are going dvb-s2(HD).
Yes I know you will be very happy with the microHD, and of course it will pick up SD and HD.
I highly recommend this package here: http://www.satelliteav.com/p/shop/?ws_pid=1611&ws_cat=413
Then all you need to do is find you a motor somewhere and you will be in business. Of course you won't need a motor to use it, but as you already know you will want one. Just ask all the questions you want to ask we love helping out, as you have seen if you have been browsing around for awhile.

Kind of. It will only get DVB mpeg 2 SD.

A newer STB will get MPEG 4 DVB-S2 lots of choices here. MicrHD, Rs-1933, DBS6000HD, Azbox, PC card etc...
