Hi everyone,

I have noticed over the last couple of months that the one XM channel I listen to, 852 Beyond Jazz, has a very heavy flange effect to it. It seems to be happening about 80% of the time. It probably has something to due with the heavy compression, but I have not noticed this problem on other music channels. I have an XM subscription for my car and have never noticed this through the XM receiver so it has to be a DTV issue.

Can someone else confirm that they also hear this happening on 852.

I have talked to DTV once about this, but I am to the point that I am going to become a giant pain in the ass to them until they get this fixed.

thanks!

WTF is a flange effect?

Damaged,

I agree, it is more like a "hall" effect, or to more descriptive; it sounds like the broadcast is originating from inside a large metal tube.

Occassionly I do hear a slight modualtion, which I usually associate with a flange.

So do you think my constant bitching to DTV will do any good or more of a waste of time?

I do plan on emailing XM to detail the problem. Hopefully they might be able to step in and insure that it gets resolved

thanks!

Maybe you can get some credit or free programming, mention your local cable company has a great deal, and that the cable companies music channels sound _great_ at your neighbors. Else, it'll likely clear up on it's own someday.
