Anyone know how good a quality reception you get with an Antenna for OTA?
This would potentially be setup at Ocean County NJ...

If it's as fuzzy as rabbit ears where, it's probably not worth getting the ATI HDTV Tuner for it :)

Thanks!

In order to give you an intelligent answer, we need to know what your zip code is, or you can go to www.antennaweb.org and enter your exact address to see what potential you have for reception.

Well using 08740 as the OC, NJ search you should have plenty of options depending on what you trying to do/receive? Digital will not be "fuzzy" nor should analog if the proper setup is created. Are you wanting Philly &, NYC digital?

Heya,

Ocean County is what I meant to type, not the city :). Or zip is the Seaside Heights Area...and we're looking for NY digital.

Later!

To get the NYC locals you need a combo VHF/UHF for about 75 mile range aimed at a 17° heading from your zip code. If you want to shoot for the other, just add a rotor and aim to heading listed:

PHILADELPHIA 289°

Antenna: Winegard HD 8200P or Channel Master CM 3671

Pre-amp: Channel Master CM 7777 Titan2 or Winegard AP 8275 Chromstar 2000

Rotor: Channel Master CM 9521A

Newbie here. When I try antennaweb.org I get the following results, Can someone guide me which OTA antenna to go far? I'm mainly concerned about channels in bold, Thanks

* yellow - uhf WNJT-DT 43.1 PBS TRENTON NJ 228° 14.2 43
* green - vhf WNJB-DT 8.1 PBS NEW BRUNSWICK NJ 19° 11.9 8
* red - uhf WPXN-DT 31.1 i NEW YORK NY 69° 32.6 30
* red - uhf WNJU-DT 36 TEL LINDEN NJ 69° 32.6 36
* blue - uhf WCBS-DT 2.1 CBS NEW YORK NY 66° 35.2 56
* blue - uhf WABC-DT 7.1 ABC NEW YORK NY 66° 35.5 45
* blue - uhf WWOR-DT 9.1 UPN SECAUCUS NJ 66° 35.2 38
* blue - uhf WPIX-DT 11.1 WB NEW YORK NY 66° 35.2 33
* blue - uhf WXTV-DT 41.1 UNI PATERSON NJ 66° 35.2 40

* violet - uhf WNYW-DT 5.1 FOX NEW YORK NY 66° 35.2 44

Well, at least they are all in the same direction, so no rotator is needed.

WNET-DT and WNYW-DT will be your problems. A CM 4228 might be in order here. WNET is moving to ch 13 in 2009 (according to the first digital channel election), so the 4228 is OK for it, WCBS-DT has not made a choice, lets hope they don't drop back to Ch 2.

The 4228 is a good large fairly directional antenna, if you have dropout problems add a CM7777 pre amp. At 35 miles, a pre-amp wouldn't hurt any way - go for it.
