HDNet to Air Space Launch At Night
The Space Shuttle Discovery is scheduled for takeoff Thursday night.

Washington, D.C. (December 5, 2006) -- HDNet will broadcast the Thursday night launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery, the first nighttime launch since 2002.
The night sky should provide for a dramatic backdrop for the high-def coverage. HDNet, a 24-hour High-Definition TV network, is available on satellite and several cable systems.
"Capturing any Shuttle launch in High Definition is a challenging event,” says HDNet co-founder and GM Philip Garvin. “A night launch is even harder, but we expect it to be spectacular. We take in video from
over 20 HD cameras spread around the massive NASA & Cape Canaveral Air Force Station – in some cases our video signal travels over 8 miles of fiber."
The launch is scheduled for Thursday, December 7th, at 9:36 p.m. ET. But HDNet's live coverage will begin at 6 p.m.
