I have read the horror stories of people losing their HDMI cards. Today I lost mine  The unit is less then a year old and I put in a couple of 250GB drives when I bought it. Should I bite the bullet and buy the new TiVo HD DVR or should I buy the new DirecTV DVR? Or should I just replace the daughter card on my current TiVo? Any opinions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Brian

Make sure you don't have a bad cable. Then double check and make sure the problem is your DVR and not your TV's end of things. If its the DVR order an HR-20 (DirecTV DVR).

If you determine that it is the HDMI card (and not a bad cable or compatibility issues with your TV), any good computer tech should be able to replace the card for you unless it is embedded in the circuit board. Then it's time for a new unit.

Good luck!

If you go to the TiVo community forum, there used to be a complete thread on replacing the HDMI card. A company called CSS used to repair them, don't know if they still do....
