HDMI for Xbox360 HDDVD?

I am thinking of getting the VGA cable of the 360 and use a VGA to HDMI adapterr to be able to connect it to my TV (no vga on the back of it) in order to use the HDDVD drive to upconvert SDdvds.

Or should I wait and see if Microsoft will be adding HDMI to the 360?

I could be wrong, but it was my understanding that the 360 HD-DVD drive doesn't upconvert standard DVDs. Is there a reference anywhere online for me to review? If so, upconversion would indeed be a great lil bonus..
