HD show will not record in HD

On weekday mornings, I record Judge Mathis and The Peoples Court on CW which is shown in the guide as high def. I started the recording series on the hd channel but they will not record in hd. The commercials for the two shows are but not the shows. Any ideas?

I don't know about People's Court, but I can tell you for certain that Judge Mathis is not produced in HD. It is distributed to stations in SD, so if it says HD in the guide, that is incorrect.

yep, not really overly technical explanation, BUT not all shows on a "HD channel" will be in HD; they must be produced in HD. and not all HD will be 16:9 aspect ratio (aka what most users question as "filling my screen") and not all audio will be in multi-channel surround.

I know those shows aren't in HD but sometimes it depends on your local affiliate. Like my local CBS station (WTAJ) only plays CBS shows in HD. The shows they add in between they only broadcast in SD. Ex. Inside Edition.
