I know this is not the right forum to post this question on but... I have no idea where to post it.

What is the difference between an HD-Ready TV and HDTV? Is there a difference?

If you still have an UHF outdoor antenna or are in an area close to transmitting towers, (then an indoor antenna will work) you might be surprised at what you can get with the tuner. I was able to sporatically pickup The Tube from my outdoor antenna.

I live at a major TV focal point...
My new HD TV gets 45 digital channels on its tuner, right off the air!
About 10 are real hi def. 1080 or 720
But even 480p is gorgeous compared to noise-prone analog!
(The Tube is on channel 5.5)
This is with my 30 year old Radio Shack outdoor antenna.

I also get 29 more analog signals. :up
(which are mostly all duplicates of some digital channel)

same here. I get approx 25 channels or so here in Minneapolis. This is with the CS8K

Most are the HD or digital feed of the analog channel and some are a digital version of the analog channel.

But to answer the original question, HD ready means you need to attach a HD box to it. HD Built in is self explanatory. My dad has an old HD ready TV. Needs a HD source
