Just recently, some of the upper HD stations on my 622 have been giving me some problems. A&E, the Gaming Network, among others- they are unwatchable. It's constantly searching for signal. Every 2-3 seconds it'll do that.

Funny thing- ESPN is one that hasn't done it yet. The locals are also on 129 and have not gone bad.

When I do some diognostics, 129 does not even show any signal strength unless I move the transponder number myself. Is there a way to change that transponder number for good, or is there something else I can do?

Each transponder has up to about six channels uplinked on them. If you are having problems with specific channels, changing the transponder number cannot help you. A&E is on transponder 27 along with Universal HD and Cinemax HD, while Gameplay is on transponder 22 along with HD News and Kung Fu. Erie locals are on transponder 21. It may be that the dish is slightly misalligned and needs a little tweak.

GAry is right.

Tune the box to A&E and press menu-6-1-1 and tell us what the signal strength is.

When you do that, it tells you the SS of the channel you are currently watching.

It is possible that since my service address is not Erie, that is causing the problem?

Thats low.

If there is nothing blocking the LOS(tree, etc...) then the dish may just need to be re-peaked to increase your SS. You can do it or have a tech out.

Would 129's location in the sky be that much different than the other 2 satellites?

This is my 3rd year with Dish, but my first summer with HD. There is a tree that comes close to the LOS of the Dish. I'm wondering if the tree branches with lots of leaves would be causing the problem. There was no problem in the winter/spring when there were no leaves.

Are you using a Dish 1000? If so, while standing behind the dish, 120 will have a angle slightly to the right.
