HD or Not

In the guide some of the shows on the HD channels do not say HD.

And some of the regular digital cable say they are HD

Is there a way besides looking at it.

Thanks

In many cases, what you're calling an "HD channel" is simply a digital channel, not an HD one. Outside of channels like TNT-HD, Discovery HD, Showtime HD, your local channels, what you may be calling "HD channels", can and do show HD and non-HD programming.

As for the program guide information, it's never going to be 100% accurate. It's usually quite good, but don't count it completely.

Thanks

That answered part of it.

What I don't get is the the Time Warner guide says channel 504, 506, etc are the HD versions of are local program digital 4,6, etc
Does that mean everything on 503, 506 is HD
Some shows say HD in the guide some don't.

Also can HD be broadcast on stations that are not in the designated 5?? section of the guide.

So is there a way to identify what you are watching on the screen is HD or not.

My local TWC does things similarly. My CBS is channel 7 (air) and on cable. The digital channel is 707. Not everything on channel 707 is shown in HD.

Most TWC divisions group most of their digital and HD channels together except for Showtime HD, HBO HD, and so on.

If you have to ask if a program is in HD or not, I suspect you haven't seen any HD programming yet.... There is a night and day difference !

Just because the channel is the HD version of say CBS / FOX it doesnt mean the show you are watching is HD... That depends on the Network itself not TWC... But you cannot watch a HD program on say Normal CBS, (ya the guide says its in HD but thats ONLY if you have it tuned to CBS-HD) otherwise you are watching it normal...

This what I get from Charter Communication Glendale, CA!

Comcast/boston adds VSGLF-HD, ESPN2-hd
