We are a long time D* customer with the distant network feeds. We recently upgraded to HD.

We still have the distant SD network feeds. While on the phone, I gave it a shot and asked for the distant HD feeds. They said "no", but that they would be happy to request HD waivers from the local stations.

A few weeks later, we recevied a postcard from D* that indicated we received waivers from 3 of our local stations.

However, no one at D* can get the distant HDs turned on. They agree that we are entitled to the distant HD local stations. On both H20 receivers, tuning to the distant HD network channels gives us the "channel not purchased" message. I might suspect this is a receiver issue, but its happening on two different receivers.

We have made more than 10 calls to both customer service and to technical support at D*. We stump every person we talk to. They all say that it should be working.

I've asked them to escalate the ticket and the conversation always ends with "someone will call you back", which never, never happens.

Any thoughts on (1) any technical issues that might be preventing this or (2) how to navigate the D* maze of beaucracy to get the right group to get these distant network HDs working??

Any help would be helpful.

I've seen it be something as simple as a zip codes between the receiver and the D* computers not being the same. It may also be an alignment issue.

The channel not purchased message is something on the D* side of the issue. If it was your equipment, you would be receiving a SFSS error instead.

There is a lot of confusion among CSRs about HD DNS.

When I got my HD DNS, I was told to ask for the "HD DNS Qualification Department." They were very helpful and got them turned on while I was on the phone. My waiver postcard arrived a few days later.

Since that time, someone has posted that there is no such department. However, it might be worth a try to ask for it.

There are some locations that have special rules for HD Distant Network Service. For instance, Palm Spring, CA cannot deliver NYC HD stations because they are on an earlier time zone, and can't allow LA stations because the Significantly Viewed rules prevent it.

Are you in Arkansas?

Yes, we are in Arkansas (how'd you guess :) )

Didn't think of that, as we are getting the SD distants without a problem.

Thanks for everyone's replies. Still no go with D* by the way.
