Before I decide to contact Dish and do the HD Free for Life promo, I just want to confirm which channels, if any, I will lose compared to what I currently have w/ the $10/month HD package I have (and it isnt the platinum package). I've heard mention that a few HD channels aren't available w/ the free for life package???

Hopefully somone w/ the same package that I have now made the switch and can tell me if they lost anything...

The only channels you won't get (from what your base package includes) are those in the Platinum Package.

sometime this week I ran across a chart, cant remember if it was on here or on the dish website, but it had all the channels listed and there were a few w/ an asteric * next to them and at the bottom it said *channel not included in the HD Free for Life package...but it wasnt a list of all the platinum HD channels either...there were only 2-3 of them and I think palladia was one of them listed w/ the *...

I believe HD Theater and Palladia are the two channels you would lose as they were in America's Top 120. Customers who do not have HD for Life get it with the America's Top 120 from what I understand with the $10 HD fee.

However, if this concerns you, I would get HD for Life and add Platinum. You would still pay $10 a month and get more channels. See this link for the channels:
HD Platinum - Dish Network
I say this because if you do not switch to HD for Life and still keep the HD, you would still be paying the $10. Why not get more channels for that $10 (unless HD for Life costs you a lot of money)?

In addition, if you do not care about the Platinum channels and could care less about HD Theater and Palladia, then you could save $10 a month.

Palladia SD may still be on, but who knows how long that will last?

I think that you are referring to the PDF in one of the threads at the top of the forum. I attached it to this message. Was this the chart that you were referring to?

now im confused.

i while back i dropped my hd plat, when they got rid of it, and just have a $10hd package. i havent doen the free for life yet.

so if i do free for life, i lose the channels that used to be plat, then have to pay 10 to re ad them?

im stayin like i have it

Platinum was never dropped. And if you dropped it, you won't be losing anything with Free HD. You can get them back for $10.00

where last year you got plat for free with hd access, i have it atm, no autopay, no paperless billing

so if i understand right, if i go the free hd for life route i would then have to pay for the platinum, that i get for free now. my bill wouldnt change.

all this assuming i dont decide to make the jump to D*, which i am contemplating

yes, that is exactly the chart I saw earlier this week, thanks for locating it...I really like the palladia HD channel and I do have it now, w/out the platinum and w/ the regular $10/month HD package...why do I lose that channel if I go to Free for Life when I already have it now w/ AT200 and I do not subscribe to platinum?

either way I will go ahead w/ the free for life promo, but I would prefer to keep the channels I currently have and save the $10 rather than keep the pricing the same and add more channels (by adding the platinum package)...I just dont watch that much tv anymore and I'd prefer to save the money...there's always a catch...just dont know why they pull those 2 channels that I already get when you move to the free for life promo...just weird...

Weird indeed. I never saw that .pdf file until now. Was it from the Dish website, because I never saw it before. The Dish website is misleading. If you click on HD programming, they list Palladia under the AT120 header. However, this is not true for HD for Life customers.
Does anybody know if Dish offers a free trial of the Platinum pack for people who are interested in seeing the other channles that are available?

You can save money by dropping Platinum if you wanted to.

thats what ive been trying to findout!

wonder how long until dish relizes this and changes thier billing?

Now what are you talking about???

how long until dish figures out people are getting reg hd and plat for $10 a month like i am without autobilling and stuff

then charges them the $10 +$10 to get them to opt into the autopay/paperless

They, DISH, officially announced the plan months ago. You were grandfathered into the plan because you go intoi into the HD+Plat plan last year, so you were automatically given Free HD. Here's to get you caught up:
