HD DVR OTA Question

I am thinking about getting directv again. I currently live in an area that does not have locals through DTV but some are OTA. If I keep basic cable will the OTA tuner record those channels or do they have to be digital from an antenna?

The tuner in the hd dvr is for ota only. It will not receive cable channels.

as well as Sat signals, of course, seperate tuner though.
