Dish is coming out tomorrow to install 722. My current locals do not have HD. Do the regular HD channels come off the same satellite as the locals. Was wondering because I want to have set up for future when they add my HD channels or might move closer to Dallas in future.

Where are you? N. Texas covers the equivalent of several other states. If you are in Grayson County DISH can only sell you signals from CH 10 &12 and probably is going to lose Ch10 if they don't reach an agreement by 1/1/2009.

I currently live in Sherman. I was wondering if the dish they are going to install tomorrow will recieve Dallas HD stations if I decide to move to McKinney?

You should be able to receive the Dallas stations with a TV antenna. Ch 8 will probably be the hardest but shouldn't be impossible. They should install a 1000.2 so you can receive the few Dallas HD broadcasts that DISH retransmits in their compressed format.

Ch 10 broadcasts 10.1/10.2 & 10.3 digitally and Ch 12 broadcasts 12.1/12.2 & 12.3 on UHF channels you can pickup with a minimal antenna connected to the 722 so even if DISH dosen't have acontract to carry their HD signals are available to you.

I am un-able to install antenna myself. I will call around and see what it will take to have roof top antenna installed.

If the install gets done while in Sherman, you are now an EA market so he will be getting a 1000.4

In Sherman you would need the biggest antenna that radioshack carries, along with having it up at least 40 ft in the air. Getting Dallas channels from Sherman is very hard. To get the Dallas channels you should move to McKinney or closer.

get 80+ mile UHF antenna. AND UHF VHF (pre-amplifier) preamp and you should have dallas locals.

Visit tvfools to get exact distance fron cedar hills ( broatcaster's location) and antenna recommendations.

I also made several posts in OTA section from plano so they might be helpful.

I am just a little sw of Sherman. I am able to pick up all the Dallas channels with the $100 antenna that radio shack sells and a Channel Master 7777 preamp. It is mounted 5 foot above the roof of my single story house. Channel 8 is the only tough one, that is what the preamp is for.

ummm. Ch 8 wfaa abc is strongest signal
in plano. did u try pointing uhf end of antenna toward 70 -120 degree from north...see if that picks up signal for8
Yep, Plano is 35 miles closer to the tower that me. Everybody up here has trouble ch. 8.

Yes, ABC is a tough one to get for some unknown reason... I thought ABC came out of Cedar hill though, and not Plano... What comes out of Cedar Hill then?

All the major dallas channels come out of Cedar Hill, I was just saying that Plano is 35 miles closer to Cedar Hill than where I am. I think that ch. 8 is hard to get because it is VHF.

Anybody been Auto Switched to TurboHD?

Can a Dish 1000.2 system be re-aimed for eastern arc?
