Hello all,

I am new to the D* group but have been active in the Voom area for a while.

I recently purchased the new HD Tivo from D* (because I was tired of waiting for voom). I have a phase III antenna and a Terk 5x8 multiswitch to install when I can get them scheduled. My question is this, can I install the new receiver on my existing dual lnb round dish and use it. I realize that I won't be able to get the satellite HD but I want to be able to start recording OTA HD as soon as possible. If I replace my existing unit and plug the one coax into it and then activate the receiver, will it pick up the normal 1 sat tv and OTA channels and then I can add the HD package later when all is installed?

Thanks for reading my rambling!

ahh, you misunderstand me but that is my fault. I also am a directv subscriber and actually have 2 dishes on my roof, one dual lnb dish for DTV and 1 for Voom.

I also have a multiswitch currently installed for directv that has both lines from the dtv dish going into it and is has coax from it going to my bedroom (no receiver right now), my living room (SD receiver with stand alone tivo installed) and my daughter's room (just a normal hughes dtv receiver).

What I want to do tonight since the directivo arrived today was move my living room receiver into my bedroom and install the directivo on the existing direct tv coax (only one right now) and use it as a single sat receiver until I can get a proffessional installer to install the phase III dish and run another coax to the directivo.

Does that make any better sense?
