I am thinking about upgrading to HD but I just can't figure something out. I was always under the impression that if a channel was part of your regular package and you add HD access that you would get that channel in HD if it was offered. However, when looking at an HD channel list on directv.com it lists HGTV-HD and Food Network-HD as channels you receive in hd on the family package. But these channels are not listed under my package(choice extra). Yet on an FAQ portion of their site it describes which channels I would receive in HD as the channels that are part of my package which are offered in HD. So if I had HD access I wouldn't get HGTV and Food Network in HD with choice extra but someone with the family package would? That just seems backwards to me. Could someone please elaborate further for me? Thanks in advance!

Looking at the channel chart at http://www.directv.com/see/pdf/chnl...1_A&_DAV=-1&_dynSessConf=-9003317969113654461 both Food and HGTV channels are part of the Choice package. If you have the Choice Extra package then you'd get all the channels in Choice plus the additional channels in the Extra package. Then if you add the HD Access charge whatever channels are listed in HD on those two packages would be available to you in HD, plus also via DirecTV on Demand of the channel as a on demand channel also.
Thats a link to the page that got me confused to start with. It isn't layed out like the regular package comparison page where it tells what channels are in the family pack and then tells you which channels are added by going up to the next package. The layout I just described doesn't list the channels from the family pack in the choice pack, but just the channels that were added. That is where I got confused. So I would get both HGTV and Food Network in HD?
Food and HGTV are both in the Choice and higher packages so if you have the HD access added you'll get them.
The link that got me confused just didn't have it listed the way I am used to seeing it and was throwing me off big time. The way I had always understood it was right all along: if it's in your regular package and you add HD you will get the channel in HD if it's offered. Thanks so much for clearing this up for me!
