Nick Nolte stars as a US Army deserter who becomes king of a Borneo tribe trapped between Allied and Japanese forces during World War II. Nolte plays Learoyd, a shipwrecked American soldier who leaves the war behind and finds solace leading a Borneo headhunting tribe. The tribe makes him their King, but trouble arises when the Allies and Japanese bring the war into their jungle refuge. Written and directed by John Milius (Red Dawn) and based on the novel by Pierre Schoendoerffer. Starring Nigel Havers, James Fox, Marilyn Tokuda and Frank McRae.
