HBO Now to be $15 on Sling TV, will the TV package price be lowered?

Isn't there one notable difference between HBO and HBO Now? You can record an HBO movie and watch it after you unsubscribe to HBO. HBO Now is all or nothing, right? There would be a value there.

And, if you are a good standing customer, you will probably be able to get it for less via Dish.

The DVR licensing costs is likely a large part of the difference between the OTT and the MVPD delivered HBO price.

I sure know how to get it at $15.00 or less. Call DISH Loyalty department or Retention and tell them you want them to match what SlingTv is charging for HBO at $15.00 or you will cancel. They will either give in or give you credits to get the price down . I know in May , my credits will end from 6 months ago and I will be calling up and get me some more credits and freebie premium packs. But I don't know why DISH doesn't lower the price on HBO to at least match Sling tv in the first place. Comcast has done this already.

Should Dish change their other prices to be as expensive as Comcast?

For me it is two different animals, but I have crappy internet (like most of the country). I'd rather pay for my premiums on a provider and record my show every week (like GoT and Strike Back). But I am sure the other works fine for many folks.

Mike, if they call your bluff, are you going to cancel? If they say to many credits in the past???
I have 3 DISH accounts(mine/parents/aunt) and I've been getting multiple credits for at least the last two and a half years on two of my accounts. They always tell me to call back when they are up and they will give me more. So I doubt that they want to lose a sub with over 18 years over me calling and asking for credits. This last 6 months I got $25.00 off for 6 months and another $10.00 off for 3 months ( over the Cnn and Fox disputes),not to mention free premiums and 1/2 off HBO for 6 months. I just tell them that the DISH fees are getting Too high and I want to see if they can reduce them for me and also any freebies I can get. Anyone can do this if you call. After all there is so much competition these days and providers want to keep subs . Even Swaney of Tv Predictions website said today to do just that in his column today:Call and ask them to reduce your bill.

I get all that, but if they do say no, and say that there hd been to many credits. Do you cancel, or do you pay regular price?

We do understand that this is ONE HBO channel in SlingTV for $15!! VOD is also thrown in but I have that on HBOGO anyway.... Price is outrageous in my opinion!

Who watches live TV? For me, if it's not sports or news it's probably not live. If you have access to the main channel live you will presumably have access to everything that's airing on all the HBO channels on demand.

If they don't offer any credits off , I guess I would have to look at the competition. Directv, which I also had a few years back, has been asking me to come back for years and the 200 gift card sure looks nice. Then I could really save some money.

I watch Bill Maher live or at least a little bit delayed on Friday nights when I get home from work around 9:00pm central time. But everything else on HBO I watch either recordings or vod .

Is that true, it's only one channel? (And vod) If you are willing to pay $15 it is far from outrageous to pay $4 more for 8 more channels. What DISH should do then is offer a $15 package on satellite that is the same as online, one channel on satellite and VOD online.

So no receiver vod, or 301-309??? I don't think that would sell very well.
