I got a call from DISH offering me HBO (8 channels) for $5.01 a month.
According to DISH, no commitments and no minimum months required. Sounded like a good deal and I took it. Anyone else got the calls?

What other movie packs do you have?

Let me guess. You had AT120 + Cinemax. ($46.98). Now you have the AT120 Value Pak ($51.99).

Maybe it's a good deal, but it was available for months whenever you wanted to ask for it.

In my experience, Dish never offers a better deal over the phone than you can get by just logging on and adding what you want.

You're correct, I did have AT120 + Cinemax. But after I ordered HBO, I Cancelled cinemax. So now what happens?

You will probably pay 13.99 for HBO now.

heh, well that sucks.

But I was told by the CSR the price wouldn't go up.
Wish I could have recorded that conversation.

I got the same call tonite, they said because of my current package she could add HBO for 5.01 /month I basically told her to shove it.

I THINK IT SUCKS THAT DISH CALLS AT ALL, THATS ONE LOOPHOLE WITH THE DO NOT CALL LIST (A company that you are doing business with can call all they want. They just don't understand that most people don't want them to call).

Yes companies you do business with can still call you but there is a solution.

You can tell Dish (or any other company) that you do not want to receive marketing calls from them and they have to abide by your wishes. If they call after that you can file a complaint with the FCC.

I have done this and have not received a call from Dish since.

I had AT150 + HBO and they called last year to offer me Cinemax for only $3.01/mo more. I jumped on it thinking what a deal! :D Then I found it was just the Value Pak catch and that it wasn't a "you're a special customer" deal. More like a special olympics customer.

Still, I was hoping that Dish would add Max-HD in the near future and I'd be all set for it. Guess not.

What's the "Do not call list". Is it the list that was started by the FCC and then told that it couldn't enforce it?

I'm on it and there is not any kind of a legal requirement for any company to support that list. Some companies are following the list as a good customer relations approach, but that's it.

-tax exempt non profit orginaztions
-political ones
-com[panies who have done business with you in the last 18 months

Wrong: Don't know where you get your info but the DNC list is activly being enforced and violators are being cited and fined.
