Has E* ever offered the 1000.2 for free to existing customers? If so, what were the conditions?

Has the Dish 1000.2 ever been offered for free?

Then the answer for the 1000.2 was yes it was offered free. But only for those in areas that were acknowledged as having problems seeing 129 (where 129 was the designated satellite for HD).
Yeah, I think you meant the 1000+, but if you did mean the 1000.2, then the answer is yes. I received a 1000.2 for free when I had dish installed.
Forget this 1000+ mess! I'm not seeing anybody up there mentioning the 1000.2 was given to them free as an existing member. Am I incorrect?
You will get the Dish1000.2 if you subscribe to HD or local channels that are on the129 satellite, and if the 129 works in your area. There would be no other reason to need the the Dish1000.2
So if you are a new customer and you subscribe to HD or your local channels are on the 129 you will get the 1000.2.
If you are an existing customer and upgrade to HD and 129 works in your area you will get the 1000.2.
At this time you may still get a Dish1000 as old inventory is used up. There really is no advantage to the 1000.2 for the customer, it's just easier for the installer. Infact I was getting better reception on the 129 with the old Dish1000, but this may be due to the fact I could peak with the 129 on the Dish1000. The difference in reception was now I get between 90 - 95 signal strength, with the 1000 I could get between 95 - 100. So not a big deal.

This is not always true. Work orders generated for ex. cust. that have 121 superdishes will always have a 20in wing dish and a DPP44 switch. If your locals that were on 121 were moved to E10 at 110w then the WO can be modified to the K2 dish. If there is no LOS to the 129 then the wing dish goes to 61.5 and you replace the 121 connection on the DP34 switch with 61.5. The DPP44 switch is almost never needed.

Maybe for you, but in our area the 1000.2 added 5 to 20 points on the 129 transponders. It only makes sense, the 1000.2 is larger, thus a better signal.
