Back in January I ordered the WWE Royal Rumble on HD PPV and I wasn't exactly blown away by the picture quality. I assumed they were still using the old MPEG2, but the picture was rather muddy and blocky.

I'm considering having a small housewarming party this coming sunday with basically a whole day of vegging out and watching television, starting with NFL during the day and then the WWE Survivors Series at night. Thing is, I'm not shot in the ass about spending $50 (although I am considering taking "donations" from some of the people there with the condition that I provide them food) for what I consider to be so-so HD quality when I could just head over to Hooters and just spend money on food (albeit greasy unhealthy food, as well as sitting on a stool for over 3 hours versus my comfortable living room set.) Has anyone ordered WWE HD PPV events on D* lately, and how do they compare to the quality on USA and Sci-fi? Or has anyone ordered a UFC or any other sporting event lately on HD PPV?

I'm pretty sure any HD ppv from last January was carried on 110 & was in Mpeg2. I haven't rented any sporting PPV's (boxing) but have seen the newer Mpeg4 PPV's (movies) & they all look great. The NFL Sunday Ticket is much better this year in mpeg4 than last year; looks about as good as OTA-HD.

i agree. the sunday nfl ticket with superfan has looked spectacular.

I recently added SuperCast to my computer & even think this picture looks great. The women think were nutz but having 3 TV's & one computer scanning all the games is just too fun to pass up. If I ever built a new house I know I would personally design the cable runs so I could set up 8 TV's in my sports room.
